I have very little to say. The idea that this is a Stanley Cup contending team is ludicrous. Injuries are not an excuse. I'd say fire Tortarella, but replace him with what? I don't want a retread like Lindy Ruff.

Only thing I have to say is, I don't want Sather making a bunch of trades to make trades. What are you going to get in return? Sometimes you just have to buck it up, get healthy, develop the kids, and come back strong next year. Trades don't help. You build from within, and add a judicious free agent.

I agree. I'm pretty unhappy with what I see, but agree with you about firing Tortorella, or making too many trades.
I don't think Ruff is all that great. As for trades, I simply do not know enough about O'Reilly to have an informed comment.

Don't know about McD - at first he didn't look too bad, possibly they just kept him out of the game because game was out of hand (at least I hope so).

I think we're going nowhere this year. Kids like Kreider and Miller show real talent, but truthfully, they're not ready for the NHL yet. Miller needs to learn to do things at NHL, not AHL speed, but he has shown real flashes of talent, as has Kreider.

Asham, Boyle, Pyatt and the like do nothing for me. Gaborik is either 1)wasted in the dump and chase grinding Torts game or 2)on the downside or 3)not trying very hard. Ditto Richards. Callahan is a 3rd liner with power play skills cause he goes to the net, not a first or second liner.

Biron is a sieve. Henrik needs a training camp, he's good this year, but not nearly how he was last year.

Our defense is potentially when healthy the best in the league. If we could score a goal so other teams didn't pinch their defense because they're not afraid of us scoring, we'd be #1 in the league.

Don't know much about him either, but the Avalanche aren't very good. Maybe they'd overpay us for a guy like Gaborik, who might fit their more wide-open style, but I doubt it, because of his age and contract.

After having time to digest this game I'm pretty livid about it. How do you just allow any teammate, let alone your best defenseman to get run like that and not react? Or how about letting your goaltender get run with seconds left in a 3-0 game? Stralman gave Armstrong a Poti-esque tap and Boyle said something? Wonderful. You can add a tough guy or two (players not goons) but the whole team mentality has to change or nothing will be accomplished. Normally calm after rough spots and brutal games but this one's really getting to me. I'm still confident that we'll be fine but the teams not making it easy for us.

Found a way to get a point in Ottawa? By injuring their lights-out goalie and scoring 2 on Bishop, only to blow the lead and lose in a shoot out? That's commendable now?

I've been trying to put my finger on it for a while but I think I'm finally at panic time. This team has zero heart, zero fight, can't play with a lead, the top paid guys are invisible and they've been terrible on the road.

No one sticking up for McDonagh is a complete joke. Ultimately injuries are also a huge problem, as is the fact that maybe 5 out of our 17 games were complete efforts. Short season or not, lack of effort will not be tolerated.

Things need to change around here fast.

We might be in for something historical, guys. Bickel might (just might) not be the worst player on our roster.

Reality bites...

We stink at the moment..

Biron with a save% of 83.3 is not going to help either..

What bothers me most is that no one protects our goalies..

The opponents runs them over, we help them up and dust them of..

Headscratching..

And the opponents knows it and uses it against us..

So where can we petition for the return of our 1st round draft pick? I mean there has to be a way.

so pacioretty didn't really learn anything from nearly getting decapitated by chara, i guess.
i'll admit, it's not like he went out looking for scalps, but he certainly took his opportunity when it was presented.

this has been the rangers m-o for years. it's kind of the one thing that's just unacceptable. i can deal with poor play as long as the effort's there and teammates stick up for each other. but the rangers are waaaaaay too vanilla. it's absolutely time for mcilrath. even if he's not ready, skill-wise. he is needed.
the one time in recent years i've been impressed with the rangers sticking up for themselves was when rupp beat the p!ss out of that guy on florida. that was sweet. rupp's gone now. but it seems like no one learned anything from him.
the rangers just expect the refs to take care of things...it's probably the 'right' thing to do, but the refs are incapable and unaware. gotta stick up for yourself in this league. not with staged fights, they're stupid, but *policing the ice* is critical.
yelling-at and pushing the violator is not enough. does anyone think that callahan's yapping and ankle-slapping with his stick is gonna deter these guys from running the goalie? no, of course not. but what's new?
i'm not ready to put this all on torts. but he and slats need to work on it. mcilrath probably would be a decent start. sends a message at least.

To be perfectly honest, our D screwed up on that one. Krieder was a lil off balance before stepping on Methot's stick, but Methot made the classic mistake of angling Krieder into our netminder instead of away from him. A veteran D wouldn't have made that mistake.

Time to send that 2nd to Sharks and get Murray. Would add toughness and depth.
