Kakko had a few nice moments along the boards but I did not think this was a great game from him. IMO that line seemed to have a tough time sustaining offensive pressure.

That said that’s enough grumpy shit from me. This was an awesome team win. To start slow and hang tough, come back in a convincing fashion makes me super happy.

Love how Gauthier is finding a way to be involved and make plays. That line becoming a scoring threat will go a long way towards maintaining winning hockey.

The best part about Panarin pelting Marchand with his glove is despite Marchand having a long and storied career in trolling he was still caught completely offguard by it.

Honestly, Marchand probably thought it was funny too. Him and Pasta weren't even mad.

Skill, speed, goaltending and enough grit to keep the other side honest. This wasn't a great game by the Rangers but you add those basic elements and you always have a chance to get points. Boston is a tough place to win so I'm ecstatic at 2 pts for an afternoon game there.

I very much disagree. He was very involved in all the three great scoring chances that line got. He first himself had a good opportunity, failed to elevate the puck enough. Then that pass to Zibanejad, who failed to score (credit to Swayman for that desperation save), and finally it was all him working that puck to Kreider for his Michigan try.

Now I agree, that line still didn't play good enough, but that's mostly on Mika. Kakko and Kreider are doing their job. Zibanejad HAS TO BE better.

Since many like to say I am out of tune re: NYR
I will take this occasion and toot my own horn as to being right about Gauthier

I am glad we did manage to keep Rooney as well, but clearly JG was a keeper

Also, let's for the record remember I was the one who suggested
LaF - Chytil - Gauthier
since last season.

Again,
- move Strome while his value is higher due to more production from longer term on his contract
take draft picks so no salary added vs cap crunch next yr
- Geo kinda still has it but obv, his game has deteriorated that if he does not get ample and regular mins, he gets rusty/cold.
Take the loss and give Huska a chance.

other lines I am leaning to
Kreider - Barron - Kakko
it is not clear they have sufficient scoring touch -- remains to be seen -- but that would be one mofo line to play vs

leaving
Goodrow until Krav returns - Zib - Panarin
by default

this assumes we do not get high enuf offer for Krav and have to get playing time here and up his value then showcase before we can consider a deal, which again should be for youth.

We can use a solid center tho for sure .. as good as we’re playing - I’d love another center .

Despite what most here think, I thought Mika played very well. Could have had 2 or 3 goals.

His scoring takes off in the next couple games.

Bring the abuse on.

BTW, the 4th line got manhandled for one goal and got manhandled late in the 3rd.

Don't like seeing them late in a game where they're up one.

This comment has nothing to do with a Boston player on an nyr player, but I think it's disgraceful that in the NHL kneeing or even an attempt to knee another player isn't an automatic match penalty. It is such a dangerous play that is 50 50 to cause a severe injury and there should be every incentive NOT to event consider putting a knee out on another player.
Completely agree.

I was screaming at the TV... McAvoy gets a MINOR for nearly ending someones career. That's total BS

Like targeting. ANY player that does that should be gone and it should trigger an automatic hearing with the league.

That's all on Zibs. Once he gets involved, the play goes the other way. It's usually one and done on the forecheck and/or he flubs the puck. I refuse to believe he will be this bad for much longer but he is incredibly painful to watch right now.

I was getting worried about Gauthier. He was quiet the past couple games.... but 2 big primary assists and we back. He needs to practice that power move. Flippin the puck top corner. He always tries to go through the goalie

That line could of had 3 goals easy. The Michigan and 2 stick desperation saves. Not to mention the bazillion times Mika missed from 3 feet away.

Check out the simple but effective play miller makes in his own end to start goal number 3.
