Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Bruins | 1/19/13

Can't say its frustration yet, you need at least a handful of games for that to set in. I would say annoyance/slight disappointment is more accurate.

In a way it's more than a handful of games. This game was a carbon copy of almost every loss we've had under Torts.

No powerplay, 1 goal, **** deflection goals against, terrible on faceoffs.

When will the same problems be fixed?

Blaming Kreider or Hags for this one is really shortsighted.

The only players who got on the plane were Hank, McD, Del Z, and roughly half of Nash.

Team was flat out not ready to play.
No question most of the team was bad but some were just brutal. hagelin and bickel were pretty brutal. Gabby was bad but i'll give him a small pass because of the surgery but he still missed 2 open shots. Kreider didnt do much but he plays on a bad line i hope torts puts him with stepan or richards because kreider will thrive with guys who can set him up

Guys, I'm sorry> I'm convinced I'm bad luck.

I watched all three GA, was making pork in the GF.
I turned on the Avalanche game to root for them and they went from 1-0 lead to 2-1 deficit and EJ randomly lost his edge, crashed into the boards and was helped off the ice and then as I'm typing this, an Avs player just boarded someone and they're now going on the PK.

Might just skip tomorrow's game for the greater good of HFNYR.

lolwat that sounds... not right!

This loss doesn't bother me all that much, if anything I think getting spanked around will make them even more committed to outworking the opposition.

We werent outplayed the entire game. only the first half. the 2nd half was more even, if not in our favor.

Gabby missing the empty net really really hurt.

this team has such slow decision making its ridiculous. they get the puck then wait, wait, wait some more and then try to make a pass and by that time the other team has gotten in position to break up the play.

and hagelin reminded me of dubinsky tonight. head up his ass the entire game.

I expected this thread to be much more negative...

The bruins seemed to be playing in mid season form... while the rangers looked like a team coming out of a half season lockout. Its early and there going up against some of the eastern conferences best. Im not concerned.

Nah, we were outworked pretty much the whole game. Our best effort was the second part of the 2nd period.

But any other time during the game we looked like donkey poo.

Some good individual effort from McD, MDZ, Hank, and sorta Nash. But not much else.

Agreed. 99.99999% of the hockey world would pick the Rangers, Bruins and Penguins as the top 3 teams in the east....we get to play the other 2 our first 2 games....back to back.

Horrible draw.

Yeah that was annoying me greatly with Gabs on the PP. Lateral skate along the half wall, pause, make a stupid pass. Completely careless.

Hags didn't remind me of Dubi perse. Dubi overthinks things when he is bad, Hags was just completely inept with the puck tonight.

I just do not understand the play where the puck moves towards him in the slot, and he poked it. I do not understand what was going through his head in that play.

I said Hagelin should not be on the top line since last season. Put Kreider there and watch things change.
Look Kreider has things he needs to work on no doubt about it but the kid can be useful especially when he plays with better linemates

I have a question for a our Swedish posters. When does the SEL season end? Because Sather has already brought up the possibility of bringing Lindberg and Fast over this year and we could really use some depth in the bottom six forwards. Since we're burning a year of their ELCs either way this season, they might be worth a look.

The "Hagelin shouldn't be on the first line" talk is silly to me. He had an awful, awful game for sure, but it's not as if it was his first game getting those kinds of minutes and he blew it. He played first line last year with success many times. One example of one terrible game doesn't change that.

He doesn't have an offensive touch. He'd look much better on the third line. Callahan should be where Hagelin is and Kreider should be where Callahan is. I don't know why Cally is playing with Stepan. They have never looked good together.

The pens play a back to back too so its even. Also the rangers play the fewest back to backs and travele the least amount. Rangers need to take advantage

Excellent question.

Seconded. Our bottom six forwards are black holes offensively.

It'll be an advantage during the season, to start it though, its a huge disadvantage.

I'm not concerned about what the Pens schedule is, I'm talking about us. The Pens don't have as much turnover as we do AFAIK. I really wish we could have had at least 2 preseason games to get the rust off. Terrible that they couldnt work that in.

different lines have different roles. If our bottom 6 not scoring is what causes us to fail, then we've got a lot more things to discuss than that.

Our bottom 6 needs to bring energy, hitting, and wear the other team down for our top 6 to score on.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this.

I'm surprised this wasn't discussed more how in the hell did Nash not get awarded a penalty shot? Almost as if the ref didn't want to award a PS in the 3rd in a one goal game. Mind boggling.

Every team is going through it. As bad as the rangers were tonight they still had oppurtunities to tie or win the game. Their intensity and mindset wasnt right for whatever reason

I think Hags has an offensive touch, but not against teams top defensive pairs. I agree that Cally and Kreider should be moved up.

But, that probably won't happen unless the lose tomorrow night. I think a big reason Hags keeps on getting used for that first line is that Richards seems to really like him.

Typical Rangers game.

Post
Miss an empty net
Terrible PP
Lucky goal against

Stepan needs some serious work. The guy is just a flat out disgrace out there sometimes.

It's only Game 1 but that was dreadful. I watched nearly every game today. Nobody looked as bad as we did.
