Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Bruins | 1/19/13

It's only one loss but the frustrating thing is it's the same loss.

Same flowerplay, same inability to win faceoffs, same 1 goal game, same pucks going in off Rangers.

Nash will help, but no player will change the culture. It's the same Rangers, and the same problems.

gabby looked like he didnt give a **** but he has had lazy moments in the past. He missed 2 wide openn nets. Hagelin should play on the third line. Krieder should move up with stepan and gaborik

I totally agree with you about Hagelin. He had an awful game IMO
Unfortunately Kreider was not much less bad so I think maybe Pyatt - who looked good - might get a shot there instead.

Nash - Richards - Callahan
Pyatt - Stepan - Gaborik
Kreider - Boyle - Hagelin
Rupp - Halpern -Asham

is what I would like to see after tonights debacle

I full expect this team to lose tomorrow. They will take two days off and bounce back with a strong 4-1 win on Wednesday at which point they will be 1-2.

They will then be up and down until they are about 4-4, at which point they begin to turn things around and have a stretch going 5-0-1 to be 9-4-1.

They will finish the season 29-14-5 with 63 points and finish 4th in the conference (Pitt will have 66 points)

The Rangers will meet up with Boston in the first round winning the series 4-2. They will beat the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2nd round 4-1 making it to the conference final where the Rangers win IN Pittsburgh, GAME 7, with a late 3rd period goal from Carl Hagelin.

This leads the Rangers to the SCF where they will play the Chicago Blackhawks and sweep the Hawks with Rick Nash and Marian Gaborik scoring a combined 9 goals in those 4 games.

The end.

That's what I'm saying. The system needs to change; not a lot, but enough to open the game up offensively.

Its game one and it didn't go as planned. Obviously there's room for improvement and they get to go right back out there and implement some improvement. First 7 games aren't going to be easy but they need to show they deserve to be 1st place and last year wasn't a fluke.

One adjustment I would make is flipping Hagelin for Kreider. Using Hags on the top line for his speed is great, but Kreider is a bigger body with more creativity and a better shot, Richards would have two options to go to..and I took Kreider with my last pick in fantasy

SSafe to say we are going to see some changes in the line combos?

Undeservingly, Kreider gets bumped up perhaps. Thought Richards and Nash were great and have potential there. Stepan is really not impressing.
Kreider is playing on a line with 2 grinders move him up with stepan and gabby and he will more productive

The Good: MDZ, McD, Pyatt, Hank
The Bad: Pretty Much everyone else
The Redden: Stepan and Gabby's blind passes to no one... and Hags... and faceoffs... and the PP

What are you drinking?
Want me some of that!;)

I thought it was a decent all around game against a very good team. Fine margins between them and we couldnt take advantage of our chance to tie it up and they did ( with a little fortune ) score to get the 2 goal lead.

The PP was poor but I guess it is to be expected this early into a season, with a new major piece and little training time.
Hopefully, it will get better as the season moves along.

We lost to 2 deflections and a rebound..

We were outplayed, outsmarted and out muscled in every which way we could've been..

Hags should be a healthy scratch next game, he looked terrified and lost out there..

This has to be some sort of record, from first line to healthy scratch in a season opener haha

My short sentence thoughts:

- Nash looked solid
- McD continues to impress
- MDZ quietly had a very good defensive game
- Staal was on and off; he made some great defensive plays, but made a dumb mistake to counter each one
- Segal wasn't bad for an AHL call up
- Lundqvist was Lundqvist. Note that 'Lundqvist' as an adjective is synonymous with 'Godlike'
- The PP showed flashes of improvement, but during that 5 v 3 in particular, spent too much time looking for the perfect play; just get the puck on net!
- Kreider looked fast but weak on his skates against the B's D
- Absurd amount of weaksauce penalties on both teams
- Gabby had a hard time finding open space
- I think by the deadline we'll need a top 4 RHD to get Bickel off the daily roster and move Stralman to the 3rd pair

Good: Lundqvist, MCD, Nash
Bad: The power play
Redden: CHRIS KREIDER

I thought Kreider played a HORRID game and a lazy change on his part was one of the major reasons for the 2nd goal being scored.

Nash was our best forward

Hank was the reason this wasn't 7-1

Hagelin was terrible

Kreider could've been 10 feet tall and I still wouldn't have noticed him

Stralman looked like Redden out there

What a surprise the PP was awful. It has to be the coaching, not the personnel.

Some of those guys looked like they hadn't skated in months like Hagelin (who is one of my favorite Rangers). Too many drop passes.

Also, once again with Bickell, the guy is terrible, you have two guys in Gilroy and Emminger who can skate, use them..Bickell can't even handle a pass.

If Halpern isn't doing well on faceoffs, that a huge problem.

Yeah talk about a guy who doesn't belong. Bickel couldn't be any more of a waste of a roster spot. Here's hoping he's plying his trade in Greenville soon.

yeah that's it....it can't be the fact that training camp was like 6 days long...or the fact that they are integrating a superstar like Nash into a pretty important aspect of the team. Who shoots, how do they set up?

The Bruins have iced almost the exact same team for 3 years....why is anyone shocked we lost this game.

I was praying we'd get a team with a ton of turnover just like us....this was a horrendous 1st game matchup for us....tomorrow isn't any better.
