Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Boston

Someone needs to take care of Lucic when we play them next time.

We did take care of Lucic; we won the game. We took them out of their game. They didn't bait us into fights that probably would have sparked them, etc. I was proud of McDonagh, although I would have loved to see him level Lucic.

I like the lineup the way it is. If they can't find a dance partner, that's their problem. Our main goal is to WIN.

I'm really into the fact that Torts can roll 4 lines, right now. Everyone seems more energized.

And they don't play the bruins again, unless they meet in the playoffs.

And really, the division is not all that tough anymore either. Flyers especially have lost a lot of their toughness with hartnell getting hurt.

#3? LOL was this Sportscenter? Were #1 and #2 dunks by 7 footers? During this time of the year the Sportscenter top 10 is 9 dunks by 7 footers and usually 1 amazing play in the NHL at like #10. Seriously, I think this is the best goal of the year so far.

#1 was a really sick alley lol, deservedly so imo, forgot what #2 was.

I saw barely any physicality that doesn't happen in every other game. The Bruins scored a bunch in a small time window, wont that often anyway. No way were the Rangers manhandled or anything

Yeah we looked a little soft last night, but who doesn't against the Bruins?

Rick Nash, takes penalty leads to goal, eventually dominoes to 3-3 tied game and barely won in the shootout. HFNYR approves revenge, encourages to punch opponent in face.

Stu Bickel gets 5 minutes of ice time without getting caught or making a visibility bad play, abomination, not an NHL player, homeless, get a different job. You don't deserve love.

 Sometimes I wonder....

Yeah because Bickel and Nash are the same player. :shakehead If you don't understand why Nash our best skater this season gets more leeway than our worst player the last two years I don't know what to tell you.

Rick Nash took exception with the Lucic hit. Don't hook him. You're 6-4. Punch Lucic. Rub your gloves in his face. Face wash. Smack him in the head. 2 minutes roughing. What does Bickel have to do with Nash? Bickel can't play. Is team toughness really an issue? There is always an issue. One day its a lack of speed. Then its team toughness. Lucic runs around every game. He ran around when the Rangers had Prust,Rupp and Bickel in the lineup. He is a big guy but someone will get him some day. Lindros was the baddest mother in the NHL. He took a penalty on every shift but got away it. Kasparaitis tagged him and the concussions became an issue. Same thing with Forsberg. Lucic keeps looking for trouble. It will find him. They will break him in half. Eventually. Look at Lindros.

Yeah, I know they won, and that's the whole point of playing, but at some point the lack of toughness will have to be addressed. Asham can't fight everyone.

Lack of toughness or lack of a power play? If we could score more than once every dozen times we wouldn't need any more toughness.

This. Lucic is a mean SOB and he ain't afraid, (well, I'm sure someone can find YT-videos of him avoiding a fight at some heavy weightier...) and he is a good player. Having a slow fighter in the line-up won't change his game, it will only slow down ours.

And it was a stupid penalty taken by Nash, even though I get he got pissed. And I don't think that he should have punched him, a player like Nash takes revenge by scoring.

Yeah we looked a little soft last night, but who doesn't against the Bruins?

Thank you.

I'm admittedly not a fighting/tough-guy advocate, but what some people don't seem to understand is that there are only a certain number of each player type to go around. For those clamoring for someone to have "handled" Lucic, who the hell in the league (forget about the Rangers) is even capable of doing that? Out of those players, if there even are any, which ones can play the ****ing game as well?

And let's say we somehow magically "handled" Lucic. Who's then going to "handle" Chara? The Bruins have a unique (as in no other team can compare) blend of size/skill/toughness that makes them a very, very good team. They have arguably the most intimidating defender and power forward on their roster, and some people are complaining that we don't have the personnel to go toe-to-toe with them? No one does!

The Bruins aren't going to be beaten by being physically out-matched or intimidated. They have that market cornered. They'll need to beaten in other ways and considering the Rangers record against them over the last few seasons it looks like they have that pretty well figured out.

Colton ORR on the forth line makes Lucic half animal...Fact

Agreed. Ference could beat up at least 1/2 the Ranger team.

I give it three years max.

They are already ramping up the punishments for head blows. At some point they will see the irony of not allowing head shots unless someone is getting punched in the head.

You mean like the shot Lucic gave McD last night??? If the NHL is truly ramping up punishments for head blows that one last night should be addressed but it won't be because they are still not serious about those kind of plays.

Thank you.

Bolded for truth. I can't think of another team that even comes close in terms of intimidation and aggressiveness. And well said on this last point. For a team that we get so worked up over when it comes to matching muscle for muscle, we don't see to have too much trouble dispatching them. Boston hasn't split a seasons matchup with us since 2008. We are 14-6 against them in that span.

This.

Maybe I didn't see the whole thing but what I did was Lucic swung around with his stick going right for McD's head. That's ****ing bush league and worthy of discipline.

This turn the other cheek on this forum really is depressing to me,but thats just me..I respect your opinions but I don't agree with them or even understand them..Im guessing its because I grew up drinking water out of a garden hose and most of you drink fancy bottled water..

Yea. But we all know the NHLs punishment system is total crap. It will improve eventually out of necessity as more pressure gets placed on the league

I'm in no way asking for someone to go after Lucic, but someone can't go after Marchand? Hamilton? Seguin? That is how you get those other guys to stop. You go after their skilled guys.

Who on the Rangers can answer that way? You have to be able to deliver some pain. I am not calling the Rangers not tough, because they are. I am asking for more in the way intimidation by physical play.

Milan Lucic vs Toronto last year.

You're right, Orr tamed him like a little *****!

TOI: 5:48 and a single fighting major.

You know what's a more realistic way for teams, all around the board, to stop taking runs at your players? Have a good PP.

Tell me how often teams are going to want to intimidate you in a cheap fashion (where they'll get a penalty) if they know you have a PP that can torch them.

If he could tame Lucic why not play him and be a deterrent? Testosterone and belligerent Burke would've been all for it.

What I'm trying to point out here, why would Lucic even BOTHER with Orr? Lucic can skate circles around Orr or any other heavy weight for that matter. Lucic is one of the best in the business at what he does, very few teams can contain him well. Make sure he doesn't have the puck, move the puck quickly, make him take a penalty and score.
