3 Thoughts

1 - Pens are a surprisingly dirty team. Some serious clutching and questionable hits. The refs were letting them get away with a bit more than they'd let most other teams get away with.

2 - Rangers must not surrender the center of the offensive zone with a lead in the last five minutes of a game. It's in excusable and must be cleaned up.

3 - Irony of tonight... Rangers may have enough skill to hang with the Pens in a playoff series. But they'd maybe not survive it physically.

One more:

Kreider has to use that shot and stop defering as much to Nash and Step. If he uses his shot more often he'll actually open up more ice for his linemates!

This! This! This!

His biggest attribute is his speed he can get around defenders and snap the shot on goal. He's been looking to pass so much the D doesn't seem to play him as tightly anymore.

Another putrid game of Nash tonight.

Richards gets a ton of **** from Rangers fans for making 6.5. Callahan gets nothing short of bullied for asking for 6.5.

Neither is worth that, but Nash at 7.8...I don't know I'm just not seeing the same backlash.

I think Stepan had a good game. Had a few set-ups for Nash and took the puck away a few times.

And for the record, Staal is just an absolute beast right now. The reach he has and the physicality he can bring at times are just absolutely insane coupled with his positioning. He also seems to be getting his mean streak back. Good luck trying to score against him.

Win against the pens lose to the oilers...

If Cally could score more maybe we win last night . Btw, I doubt very much that the Pens are going to win the Cup anytime soon. Actually, if u ask me , they kind of suck considering they have Malaky and the Crying One playing for them.

Pouliot
Zucc
Brassard or Carcillo .

Pouliot works hard in front of the net. Good to see it pays off in goals too. He has made alot of room for Zucc and Brassard. Pleasent surprise in 2014

if we won against the Oilers, we'd be entering the Olympic break THIRD in our conference.

Random fact(?) I think we lead the league with 9 players with 10 or more goals. Random fact (?) I also think we are in the basement with 0 players with 20+ goals  (a few other teams are there with us)

Tied with WPG though

Congrats on a big win, was really deserved. Rangers can really force the play now (something I have never seen under Torts), it´s actually quite impressive. We were outplayed at home (not by a big margin, but we were) and that doesn´t happen a lot. I actually came here to praise your team some more, but then I saw some "FU Pens" things

Anyways, with the level the Rangers showed, it seems very possible to have a R2 playoffs series against each other.

Speaking of Winnipeg, can someone (preferably the Rangers) save Byfuglien from there? They are currently playing a top-15 defenceman in the league as a RW, ridiculous.

lirl

I think Byfuglien is a more valuable defenseman than most, but he is most certainly not that good of a player.

I just went with something, but I do think he is thereabouts. Don't be fooled by his low on-ice save percentage.

He is definitely a #1D.

Would love to add him. Trade for Klein?

:sarcasm:

If you want WPG to even respond you better make that at the very least Klein+Kreider+1st. And Winnipeg would be stupid to take that package IMO.

I'd try base the deal around Girardi, but Girardi may not want to sign there. Imagine if we got him for Girardi+picks/prospects we got for Cally, going forward:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Brassard-Zuccarello
Pouliot-Miller-Fast
4th line

McDonagh-Strålman
Staal-Byfuglien
Moore-Klein

Lundqvist
Talbot

Buff is on the 2nd pairing for balance. As good as Staal-Strålman has been as a pairing, McDonagh-Strålman has been even better. Duclair can replace Pouliot when he is ready.

Browsing the standings and just saw the Rangers are tied for the most wins on the road in the NHL with 18.

And considering that the season started with a miserable road trip with only 3 wins in 9 games, the _recent_ performance on the road has been very good indeed.

We seem to be some of the only posters that love Byfuglien. I agree, I'll take him on my top pair any day.

But if Girardi can keep being our PP QB, maybe not :sarcasm:
