Klein has been good. Aside from a few mishaps, he has certainly stabilized the 3rd pairing. Why ***** about that?

Big 2 points. Would have been nice if we were able to get a point or two against EDM. However, last night was huge.

He's fine on the third pairing (mostly), but some of us are afraid Sather thinks he is a possible replacement for Strålman or Girardi in the top-4. He is definitely not capable of filling that role on the Rangers.

I like how the Rangers rebounded hard from a disappointing game against Edmonton. They came out and took it to the Pens on their own ice. Barring an absolutely awful loss of coverage by Callahan, this would've been a regulation win, which it should've been. It's not like the beginning of the year where a bad loss would spiral into 500 straight losses.

I have a technicality question - The first goal we scored last night, as far as I can gather from the replays, Zucc was the last player to actually touch the puck, while Pouliot (seemingly) hit Fleurys pad, and his leg dragged the puck into the net.

Is the goalscorer determined by who brings an action that moves the puck after its standing still, or what team player is actually last on the puck ?

I'm willing to give the guy a little time given how awful the Rangers dmen looked at the beginning of the year adapting to man d. But as of today, I agree with you.

Still not sure what he was doing in OT when Sutter (?) just blew by him.

Yeah, another look shows he got clipped in the thighs/shins, and that slowed him down one step. still, one tiny mistake and the pens will capitalize. Just something about those guys.

Thank you, good sir.

Still don't think he should be moved to the 2nd pairing this year or next. issue is that John Moore requires a stable partner. Moving Klein up to play with Staal means that we have to find another partner for Moore, and I'm pretty sure AV does not want that to happen, as Moore is definitely in the future of this team.

My guess is that if Stralman is not re-signed, he is replaced via Free Agency, and not from the farm. Allen is possible ready for 3rd pairing duties, but that's not happening until Staal is gone, therefore allowing Moore-Klein to become the 2nd pairing. The soonest that happens is next season, probably the season after though. Personally I don't think it's in the cards at this point

Yeah, ironic right? lol. Still, 10 out of 12 points in their last 6 games. Can't cry about that

I think this shows that Callahan either doesn't get the system, or is just not in the right state of mind to be playing. Hard to keep focus when you are the sole player with trade rumors swirling around you, + Olympics in the next few days

He can replace Stralman; no problem.

He's not scoring like Karlsson or defending like Staal. He sucks. We lost the trade. Traded an elite young offensive dman for an old scrub.

I, for one, never shed any tears for what Thorton did to Orpik. Orpik is as dirty as it gets. Dirty, dirty player. Same vein as Marchment.

The 'Pens as a whole are dirty. Not nasty dirty like some of the Flyer teams. But dirty and whiny. Cindy truly learned from her mentor, Maryo.

As a person that grew up watching the Patrick division and being a Rangers fan, the Isles will always occupy a special place of hatred in my heart. The Devils are a rivalry, but do not inspire such resentment. The Flyers always are near the top. But, the Pens are right up there.

The Pens use their sticks recklessly more than any team in the league and almost never get called. Kreider also got cross checked from behind into the boards; no call. They are dirty and they get the calls. Cindy might be a bigger dick than Mario. That's a tough call.

Is anyone else a little worried about Girardi being on the PP over McDonagh and with his success now he'll be there for the foreseeable future. It's like McDonagh got scapegoated for our PP going cold. But it was still good, just not producing, it'll happen to the best of them, happened to Washington earlier this season. McDonagh could have gotten the same 2 points that Girardi got. He's just a better point man. He's a better passer, better stickhandler, better at keeping the puck in the zone. The only thing that Girardi has over him is velocity of shot.

McD might have been taken off the PP because he was going to be very busy keeping Sid and Gino off the board at ES. We'll see what happens after the break. And I agree, McD is significantly better than Danny at the point.

Nash also was the player closest to Maata when he scored and had no idea he was sneaking in.

Hoping AV won't use him there anymore. I wonder if he had Team Canada in mind, using him like that. Bab**** has said he'll be using Nash as a checker so I'm guessing Nash will also be killing pens. If I'm right I'm going to be pissed. If Nash was a Wing, would Babcock do that? Doubt it.

Yeah but Girardi is on the same pairing as him.

I was thinking this as well. I don't want Team Canada using the Rangers as a guinea pig to test out whether or not Nash is capable of killing penalties in the Olympics. Really hoping that's not the case and that AV is just doing this on his own accord and isn't being influenced by Babcock/Team Canada.

I think he's pretty damn physical. He has thrown bigger hits than any of our other dman.

To be fair, he can get outmusceled by big, fast forwards. Kopitar made him look silly in pre-season.

But his positives far outweigh the negatives. Lock him up Sather!

I'm not sure I fully understand your post. I am pretty sure Nash was used on the PK with the Bluejackets. That does not necessarily mean he should be a PKer with the Rangers, and I don't see that he has any great talent (in fact, I am somewhat nervous of him taking another penalty, instead of being a high threat to score shorthanded, which I think would be a really nice theory, but on only on paper).
As for Team Canada, no comparisons should be made with his role on that team. It's completely, completely different, no relation whatsoever. Nash did great in 2010.

Otoh, Nash pking in Sochi increases Canada's chances of failing, which to me is the 2nd best outcome I'm rooting for. Hate that program lol.
