Not to mention the fact that he played for only 5 ****ing minutes! People are insane

He sit at the bench and intimidate the opposition - don`t tell me that has no effect? And that has been his job for the last decade, and he is pretty damn good at it! :)
Yeah, he only played 5 minutes, but he did some good things around the board and won a puck early in the game among other things and created some scoring chances.
It`s about quality minutes, not about the length - I`ve no idea why AV sat him after the fight - anyone notice AV was concerned and not happy when the fight started?

That explain why he only had 5 minutes - why use Glass if he can`t use his toughness - AV seems concern when guys play their physics strength, so confused about AV sometimes. :shakehead

First you say that his purpose is to be a deterrent on the bench and then you ask why AV wont use him off the bench?

And do you honestly believe that having Tanner Glass on the bench will scare anyone besides Ranger fans?

He want to use Glass, but for only 5 min. while he did well in that game - I just don`t understand AV logic sometimes.
Anyway I need to go for an appointment, back later this evening! :)

. You know, its not necessarily who is the cheapest. LV indeed does have to reach the league minimium in salary, which I believe is 43 million. Could be off there.

Depends on WHERE the want to spend larger portions of it. Girardi, Staal please, please?

Staal and G are exempt for the expansion draft though, along with Nash and Hank, because of NMC language in their contracts. So the Rangers have to protect them. Not that they'd pick either of those two anyway.

lol imagine if we weren't tuff and gritty last night?

We were as lucky to win as you could be. Raantta was getting pelted. We were the same garbage defensively we were against Montreal. But since Glass was in the lineup and inspired his teammates or some nonsense it's not the same.

How did Kampfer look? I missed this one but watched the Boston game and he looked pretty good there. Skated well, was a little physical, made the right plays it seemed

Good. Not nearly as good as Clendo but passable

Got wrecked from behind by some scrub on the Lightning and somehow didn't miss a shift.

Yeah but did you see that fight? Inspirational man. Two garbage hockey players fighting over nothing really got that team spirit up.

Also Raanta is only signed for 1 more season, so they will either have to pay him at a UFA rate or lose him after just 1 year. They may opt to go a different direction because of that.

They can ask those players to waive the NMC just for the expansion draft. Wouldn't shock me at all if they sat Girardi down and told him that either he waives or they buy him out, meaning his only chance to stay in NY is by waiving. Then they protect Holden.

Winning despite playing meh defense bodes well for the team if they do start playing defense well again.

Only if we get insane goaltending going forward. Raanta stole that game last night.

Another poor performance IMO. Team cant win games unless their goalie steals it. By my account, they have been outplayed in their last 6 games.

Goaltending is the only reason they win, and the only reason it is not a blowout when they lose.

He's part of the team too.

He is, but expecting him to do that every night is a bit much. On the plus side, 26-13-10 actually played well in limited minutes last night and Skjei managed a 64% CF at even strength.

So what you're saying is that you don't think Tanner helped them squeak out that win? SMH

Forgot about the new rule in the playoffs that if your goalie saves too many quality chances they actually give the win the other team.

Counting on Lundqvist/Raanta to stand on their heads is not a good strategy.

Nor does it change the fact they are being routinely outplayed by every competent team in the East.

Their goal scoring has dried up, they play terrible defense, and rely on goaltending... and its been like that for a couple weeks.

Down in shots 12-3 after the first period? Being outshot 25-12 in the 2nd? Get a bunch of perimeter shots in 3rd to close shot disparity? Put a check next to all of those.

Id just like to see the Rangers outplay another team for a change. If they cant, they will not make it past round 1.

Never did quite understand this argument. They may not be buying him out as the dead cap space hit is not tiny. What is the impetus of Girardi to waive his clause?

If we shouldn't count on stellar goaltending every night, why shouldn't we count on the team getting its stuff together offensively and defensively?
