There will forever be a batch of fans that would get excited if their team traded the entire roster for picks and cap space...because the invisible represents hope.

This is about as good a roster as can be assembled for this team at this time. Whether it works or doesn't (the East is a meat grinder)...its a really good use of assets.

We added vets with winning pasts and talent as in 94, BUT we still have a full line of young forwards and a young defensive core. We still have Othmann, Jones, Robertson, Cuylle and others. They’re taking a real shot after an ECF run and still have some fall back AND this year’s first.

And people still complain.

The invisible hand is the one and only:

If this team flames out they can turn around and trade Kreider, Panarin, and whatever else (Zib?) and try again with the kids as new core.

Are you telling me that trading all of the above doesn’t net us more than what we gave up over the last two seasons?

Not giving up any prospects/D depth is good.

It's not easy to get through a playoff run healthy. We just might see Zac Jones again.

Forward depth is a little concerning after the starting 12. Jake, Brods, Cuylle.. who else?

If I’m zooming out to look at the situation overall, the Rangers can recoup some of these picks in trades this summer. They’re going to have to move some guys to reconfigure the team, especially if they don’t win.

The other thing is this is literally such a toss up this year. The East is so stacked the Rangers could go all the way or be out in round 1 and neither would surprise

idk, we’ll see how it works. I wasn’t alive in 94 but this deadline has some of those vibes on the approach. It’s all or nothing

People tend to forget how young Kakko, LaF, & Chytil are and that they'll be around for years. Othmann is probably a sure fire NHL'er. Cuylle is a sure fire 3rd/4th liner.

We got Tarasenko and Kane and didn't give up any roster players of note nor ANY top 20 prospects.

Edit: I forgot about Kravtsov but he's kind of forgettable.

Kreider alone may come close to doing that lol.

There are always going to be guys who are overvalued in the market. Kreider and Trouba are 2 guys on the roster right now who are pretty much the definition of said player.
