It sure as hell wasn't clean but great job by Mlodzinski there.

I don't mind nibbling in that situation and walking an extra guy to make sure you don't give up a run there.

That was a dumb play by Triolo, but at the same time, you're not going to score any runs with these weak ass popups and ground balls from the heart of your lineup.

WTF is wrong with these guys offensively.

In my mind this is still the 0-2 run team we saw a month ago that has temporary surges out of it. Their inability to connect barrel to ball is just staggering for supposed professionals.

Good lord, no way our pen is gonna win this war of attrition

Stupid management thinking we were gonna win in the bottom of the 9th...on the road...

Team somehow hasnt lost, but wow, toronto has been letting them stay alive

It's more like our offense can't score or even barrel a baseball. The bullpen is doing an amazing job.

Which is why you don't start burning through relievers in 7-8-9 innings. You see the offense staling...

I disagree.

It's the offense's fault for being gutless wussies and getting no hit for 8 innings. No manager is going to overcome that when the opposing team has runners starting at 2nd.

Sometimes I think the offensive players just have a lack of pride in their craft. The ABs we saw from the 8th inning onward in this game were defeatist terrified loser stuff. Like if Ben Cherington were in the box kinda deal.

Ugly and also predictable, somehow even more demoralizing than it would have been as just a normal loss after Falter pitched out of his mind yet again.

The loss is definitely on the offense, but Bae is also worth singling out. The pitchers were executing and there's no excuse not to make that play. Maybe they still tie it up anyways but the pitchers mostly did their job.

The reason that is a belief is because there data to back it up.
Yep. Data based on the theory that every at bat is treated the same. If you have your pitcher hit cleanup (back when pitchers still hit) you would score 16 fewer runs over the course of the season. This calculation is based on averages, runs scored, etc.

But if I’m pitching and I see the pitcher batting fourth behind prime Albert Pujols, I’m never giving Albert anything to hit. Theres no way he gets the same numbers and there’s no way the team scores as many runs

The good ole righty lineup. So I guess Cruz will never be able to hit a lefty?

If Cruz is hitting well against righties, they play him against lefties. If he isn't, he does not play against lefties.

Tired of our franchise position players being so deeply flawed and irritating, but it is what it is. A Hayes/Reynolds/Cruz/Davis/Gonzales/Endy core is just not going to be good enough. Need to add a Luis Robert or a Chisholm. Hell, Brent Rooker looks pretty appealing right now.
