Skenes should be a unanimous ROTY choice. For a guy to come into MLB, with almost no minor league experience, at 22 years old, and post the best ERA in the league since day 1 (early May) as well as ranking at or near the top in other key categories, is astounding. He's literally been one of the best P in all of baseball.

Anyone voting for Merrill or another name, are just trying to be cute and/or make a name for themselves.

It’s similar to the mvp in most years Otahani as a pure DH wouldn’t be in the conversation for not playing in the field. You have an everyday player in a playoff race vs a pitcher who not

And Ohtani, if he plays a full year and is hitting and pitching at a high level, should be MVP considering what he's doing has never done before in consolidated baseball (Babe Ruth never pitched and hit at an elite level simultaneously and also never played in a league that featured black players).

The year Judge won because he hit 60+ HR's was a joke. That's been done before, by a number of players. What Ohtani did that same year was never duplicated in the entire history of baseball. Yet the Yankees are the Yankees and nobody gives a shit about west coast baseball and a terrible Angels team.

I really dislike disqualifying a player for an award simply because the team they play on, didn't make the postseason.

Merrill looks like a great young player but he's not doing anything that is historically impressive. Skenes is already pitching like one of the best arms in all of baseball. Merrill has a long way to go before he enters that territory for position players.

There’s support for Marte to be mvp over Othani and Ozuna because he is a position player not a DH but Lindor isn’t going anywhere if the mets get that play off spot

4th inning and this puppy feels all but over. Not that it matters because the game's not even on tv. Even in the dark days of Jack and Craig Wilson, Pirate games were NEVER not on tv.

How bout them Battlin' Buccos?:biglaugh:

De La Cruz has had a nice resurgence after his horrid start with the Pirates. He has hits in 9 of his last 10 games and is hitting .361 over that window.

I think you want to see more power than just 3 doubles but he's playing well recently.

Nice win, happy Bednar was able to lock it down. I don't think this team can dig its way out of the hole they put themselves in with that long losing streak, but it's nice to see they're not just collapsing after it.
