OT - NO POLITICS Rainy Weekends Always Get Me Down edition

Excellen

Excellent and thank you. Just the type of information that I was looking for.
Maine is a funny state as people will debate where "real maine" starts. Some say it is north of Bangor (lol)

But if you are committing to go all the way to Old town, bailing on Southern Maine but seeing the "mid Coast" which is between Brunswick and Belfast is about as good as it gets aside from going to Mount Desert Island which is where Acadia National park is.

Millinocket is an interesting town.

Yes then take 95 unless you want to do sight seeing along rt 1.

A good option would be to take 95 to Portland, then 295 to Freeport (LL Bean flagship) then jump on RT1. You will get alot of Maine views in Bath, Wiscassett, Damariscotta, Rockport, Camden, Belfast, etc.
Did that drive about 6 years ago. Boothbay and Camden were both nice. Portland was....weird....as expected. Driving at night up there kind of sucks because it's absolute darkness if you take back roads.

Am I the only one who thinks cruises are awful? They are floating shopping malls
Never been on one and never care to. All I ever hear is people getting massively sick on them. I'm not a big travel person anyhow.

Millinocket is an interesting town.
We were near Millinocket years ago on our honeymoon....traveled the Golden Road to see moose.

Stopped at a little general store type place for lunch...the person who took our lunch order was also the cook.

While sitting at indoor picnic tables a cat came up to us

It's a different world..
Love it
Yes there were moose everywhere

went candlepin bowling last night at the new American Flatbread in Worcester.
bowled a 97, 114 and 100. not bad for not playing since before covid.
The pizza was so good too.
Kinda sad 20 years ago it was once the spot of Lucky Dog music hall and before that Sir Morgans Cove.
Great scores! I bowled in leagues when i was a kid, age 7-13ish. My average hovered around 85-87, second place to the same kid every year

This is my weather for the next week. At least it won;t be hot

I saw online that regular candlepin bowlers average 85-100
Seems fair. It’s surprisingly difficult to stay consistent in that range. I guess like anything else, you did it frequently enough and you tend to get better at it.

I was really consistent. So it sucked for my team cuz I’d never really go over. A few either way, but I’d rarely have days where i was +30 across 3 strings.

We had an interesting walk on our favourite trail. We saw a Snapping Turtle acting oddly, we kept seeing flashes of red when it was trying to move something. After watching for a while, we finally realized it was eating a rabbit. I didn't know they ate animals but searched it when we got back, and sure enough, they will eat fresh carrion. It is hard to see in the picture, but the claw is holding the rabbit down, the small round, whitish shape is the bunny tail. It was a little shocking!

So I went WAY outside my comfort zone today and did a lifting competition. Friends of mine own a gym (if you’re in the Allston area and want an amazing, inclusive, and supportive home let me know, happy to send you there).

They do this “empowerlifting” once a year which is an accessible lifting competition. It was amazing. Such strength shown, and super supportive competitors.

This friend is the same one that encouraged me to run the Boston Marathon. Happy to say I have a friend that, at 41, pushes me out of my comfort zone daily and is a huge source of support. We all need that.

And yea, there were margaritas after!

Shocking? No. That is natural with natural selection

Late to the conversation about Maine, but my son is living in Lewiston, and while he likes the town itself, he notes that it only takes about a 10-15 minute drive to get to places that look seem like "real Maine" :DD

Thought there was going to be an issue with the buyer mentioning repairs... even though home inspection was fine

Our realtor called theirs and and straightened her out

They dropped off signed contract and check....all good

One day closer to moving to Maine

Been a long road.
