Minshew reportedly out for season with broken collarbone.

IIRC O'Connel is closer to being able to come off IR.
This was week 5 for AOC. Hurt on Oct 20. Recovery time for his thumb was 4-6 weeks. Guessing Ridder starts vs KC. Going to be ugly in a stand alone game for Davis.

Raiders, as they have for good parts of the season hold tough until Minschew and the offense turn the ball over. Basically even or ahead vs LAR, Pitt, Den til a pick or fumble, then the opposition took the lead and never relinquished it as from that point on, Raiders O didn't generate anything.

Yeah, same script in almost every game this season. 5 trips to the RZ with only 1 TD. Bad turnover at the worst time to throw the game away.

AOC can come off IR now. Neither he or Ridder are good enough so it doesn't matter who starts. Just the Raiders luck when they are finally bad enough for a super high draft pick there's no game changers available. Anyone know the tie breakers for the draft btw if there is such a thing? Reading an article yesterday and it said we would draft third as of now. The Jaguars have Lawrence locked up long term so as long as the Jags, Giants and Raiders have the top 3 picks the Giants and Raiders would have free shots at Sanders and Ward.

Giants are going to want a QB you'd think.

LOL sorry, didn't see you put Giants a second time at the end.

Jags could trade down from #1. Jags have 2 games vs Ten and 1 vs LV. So, they are playing some bad teams down the stretch.

Best chance for the Giants to win a game is vs Dallas on Thanksgiving. Raiders best shot is likely vs the Jags. Have KC, Chargers, TB, NO.

Yep, they couldn't have been bottom 3 last year with Daniels/Maye on the board. Or even low enough to just draft Penix/McCarthy? Raiders, again, will draft for need like they did with Ruggs and Arnette draft vs going with BPA which would have been Wirfs then can take a WR later with plenty on the board at the time and very possibly ruggs would have been too with only Lamb/Jeudy going off the board.

See if this team can actually draft and develop. Long time between when Raiders last gave a 1st round pick a long term contract. Last one was Kolton Miller. Tagged Jacobs and the rest all walked or were cut. Wilson, not looking like a guy that will get a big contract after his rookie deal.

Well, Raiders are in a tough divison as it now clearly appears that Nix can be a solid to good starter. After a slow start of dink and dunk, he's able to hit deep throws, and with Payton as his OC & HC, LV right now far behind in their HC, Reid, Harbaugh, Payton and the QB position.

I'm not anti Pierce, but that late game meltdown vs KC reveals either indecisive coaching or bad coaching in that the O couldn't execute the spike on 2nd down fast enough to leave enough time to comfortably run another play and still clock it on 1st down after making the line of the gain for 3 more yards.

1st down play ended at 28 seconds. Takes 13 seconds to spike. If they do that again, their 3rd down play can only last 1 second? A spike play should be easy. Assuming it is 2x2 on either side for the receivers, basic rules of which of the inside or outside guy gets set on the Line or behind the Line while the other guy does the opposite to ensure 7 on the LOS. OL, same stance as any other play. RB just line up anywhere behind the QB and don't move.

Dad wants Raiders to draft his sons. One is QB.
I don't love this QB draft. Again, Sanders would not have gone top 2 last year if he declared. Caleb and Maye were the youngest you could be as they were alll just 3 years out of HS. NE, not sure if they go ahead and take Sanders over Maye.

Raiders have some real significant decisions to make in the off-season. Pierce, can't be a guy that you are just saying, give him 1 more season. If you are drafting a QB, he's got to be their guy for the next 3 seasons. Otherwise, you are doing what Chicago did with Wiliams and Fields and bringing back a HC that they ultimately fired a year into that young QB's time.

Pundit argue that draft eligible folks not really what Raiders need (to fill QB hole).

So might they trade down?

They'll take a quarterback even though I think trading down might be the better long term play.

Unless they get someone competent at QB in the off-season. Like deal for Cousins for example if ATL moves on from him. Cousins, is due $27.5 mill in 2025 base salary and has a $10 mill option bonus due in 2026 which becomes guaranteed in March 2025. So, it's essentially $37.5 mill to get 1 year out of Cousins. Outside of him, there is Geno Smith, Sam Darnold who are free agents.
A lot is going to have to depend on who your HC is going to be and what other clubs are interested in a QB at the top of the draft. I believe ATL gave him $50 mill in SB, so they will eat $37.5 mill of dead cap on him if traded.

Right now, it's LV and NYG with the top 2 picks and both are changing QBs next season. Just a matter of who?

Who is there in 2026? Not Arch Manning. Can't see him opting to be a 1 and done starter at Texas with like 16 starts under his belt before going to the NFL. Think he will stay 2 more years to be a 28-30 game starter in college before turning pro. So, that is the 2027 draft.

I heard some takes that the vikings wouldn't pay Sam Darnold but is that true? Between him or Cousins I guess there's a possibility they could look for a solid right now veteran and maybe keep the door open for AOC to show the next few seasons and if things go off the rails hope for Manning.

Can’t ignore the coaching of O’Connell. Who would the raiders OC be? Not an attractive job unless you have someone good at QB.

Don’t expect Darnold to be as good without him as his coach.
