RHP is a below average skater and it is very unlikely that he has an NHL career of any significance. I like having him in the organization as he is a leader and a good player to have in Laval while providing some bottom end depth for the big club.
I would not be as pessimistic. Let's see if he Can end up on the bottom 6.. Maroon Can why not him ? ;)

He is not the biggest guy, but the puck stick to him. He is a good fighter for the puck into corner even if he is small. I bet he is gonna be a bottom liner in our team next year. He is also +28, the highest of his team by far.

As I said earlier in the thread, I hope they at least give him a good look in the pre season. As an organization , you want to reward prospects who work hard and improve , it's important to send the right message .

Gallagher made a career as a below average skater, compensating with will and very hard work. If it was good for Gallagher, I don't see why RHP could not have a career in the NHL. His positioning is good as well as his anticipation, these qualities can also compensate to some extent for below average speed. Hockey is not speed skating.

I have to say I was surprised at how good he was this year, I thought he was solid last year for sure, but this year he's really stepped it up. He went from a .56 ppg to a .81 ppg this year and that's with starting the season slowly with just 5 pts in 17 games, giving him 51 pts in 52 games the rest of the season. But like Ylonen he was also streaky, in 34 games he had no pts, in 35 games he had 56 pts.

He starts out the season with 2 pts in 3 games but then gets only 3 pts in the next 14 games. Then rattles off 11 pts in the next 11 games, then goes 6 games without a pt, then picks up 8 in 5 games then 0 pts in 3 games. Then he goes on a run and gets 27 pts in 20 games. Then gets 0 in 4 and finishes strong with 5 pts in the final 3 games.

I find some of the 4th line we iced we're very uninspiring this year. Granted a RHP-Poehling-Ylonen isn't your typical 4th line grinders but let's hope it's at least attempted in preseason games or something.

Should also mention his +/- was by far the best among Laval forwards. I know that stat is limited but it is useful when it's drastically different from other comparable players on the same team.

People keep comparing him to Gallagher - I can see it in terms of playstyle, but so far from the games I’ve seen him in Laval in camp this year, I don’t think he’ll come close to the 30 goals Gallagher scored. He’ll be a 3rd/4th liner at best.

9 goals and 16 points in his last 14 games.
Man there is a huge jump from the AHL to the NHL, just ask Anthony Richard

Wow that was the first post in three months. This fanbase is not excited about RHP.
At best he could play some games sporadically as a 4th liner. That's his upside. He will carve out a great career in the AHL.

Richard was pretty mediocre in the AHL until this year, while RHP has put up pretty solid stats throughout his time in the AHL.

Best case, RHP might end up a bottom six guy in the NHL. But in a rebuild/retool I'd rather see a guy like RHP get rewarded with a shot in the NHL instead of a bunch of the washed up plugs that we have in the lineup.

They should send down Richard & Slafkovsky and bring up RHP & Ylonen. Give the 2 kids a long look. Both are waivers eligible starting in September, as is Primeau.

This I 💯 % agree with

I enjoy watching RHP on AHL TV. He is a gamer!
He appears to have the will to make it, I just don't know if he is anything but an occasional depth player like Gabriel Dumont or Charles Hudon.

You should come into the Laval GDT threads. You'll see fans excited for RHP. All the Laval players are discussed in those threads more than in their own threads. Unlike prospects in junior or college, who are the only ones followed on their respective teams. It's similar to why Ylonen's, Primeau's, Trudeau's, and Norlinder's individual threads aren't as active anymore.

RHP has 13 pts in his last 14 games. Just had a 4-point night the other night, including a hat trick.

While I 100% agree with you. Selfishly, I'd rather see RHP and Ylonen stick around Laval a little longer while adding Richard and Slaf to the line-up. Because adding Slaf & Richard to the Rocket line-up will be a big boost. If you send them down and remove Ylo and RHP, you're kind of back to square one in terms of talents on the team. 2 down, 2 up.

2 beautiful snipes by RHP. Hopefully we can switch soon the title to Player Discussion ;)
This kid needs to stay the rest of the season...............there are some vets who should sit, or get waived to make room.
Pure effort.......and the kid can score goals when he gets a chance, unlike the vets on this team.
Belzille, Pezz and RHP are a 4th line that can bring it.
Hughes needs to start making moves to get rid of some serious deadweight. ( Drouin, Armia, Dadonov, Hoffman )
