Interested to see if she's the director or in a lower-level role. Regardless, very happy that they are expanding the analytics group.

Gotta give it to Rutherford. He said he wanted to get more diverse, have different voices, and expand the analytics department. I hope it doesn't stop here but she sounds like a fantastic start.

Huge win for the organization. Regardless of what the role is, she's one of the brighter hockey analysts doing public work.

As with most humans, I'm sure she learned a lot from her previous roles, and I'm very excited to see her get the chance to apply those lessons within the Canucks.

Apparently she did.

1. No media member ever 'makes stuff up'. This is a lazy thing that fans claim that isn't actually a thing. Media people might be wrong and might run with a story they should have backed up better or might not have the full story but nobody 'makes things up' and risks their career in doing so. They will always be reporting things they believe are true.

2. This isn't my perception of what happened in this case, at all. There's every reason to believe she was totally accurate but reported stuff that people didn't like hearing.

According to who?

Tej?

Genuinely curious

Not to bog down this thread, but wow it's absolutely embarrassing that the Vancouver market gives that moron as much attention as he gets.

The dude is a typical moronic fan who sometimes moonlights on the radio as a village troll but somehow there are people who cite him as if he's psuedo-media? It's wild to me that the guy has basically captured the following that Andrew Walker was trying to cultivate lol - props to him for that, I guess.

It seems unlikely that they would have announced it this way if a director level role.

Looks like she is coming in as an Analyst.

Similar to Biech, probably reporting to Aiden Fox, who might be getting promoted to Wall's job? Or they bring in someone else?

i was thinking the opposite. Lower level hires of analysts and such are not usually announced like that, but I suppose it’s because she’s something of a public figure (although I’m not familiar with her.)

What was reported?
Cliff notes
- Aqua got cold feet about firing Benning a year ago
- JTM an anti-masker/anti-vaxxer
- Canucks getting killed on season ticket holders dipping
- EP chose not to play at the end of last season because of soured relationship with management
- Some stuff about Hamonic's circumstance a few months ago

Those are the ones I remember seeing on twitter but she's talked about the canucks A LOT so I'm sure there's more

She has also shit on management and ownership - whether it be directly like that gluing paper together quote or indirectly with other subtle shots. Not that she's wrong, but to bring in someone who's reported these things in the past is probably a really good sign of a completely new organizational culture and it's good that it did not prohibit her from getting this job.

Dont like this hire. She comes off as abrasive and a know-it-all and that isnt the type of personality you want to be a manager/director of people.

Edit: I see she isnt a manager/director so that point is moot.

would be interesting to know
-why she hasnt had another Nhl job since she was released by the Devils
-why she was released after 1 year with the Devils

Doerrie also says that Brackett did not want to take Juolevi.

Re: 2021 Draft: said to avoid Luke Hughes re: character and injury concerns, at 9 the Canucks should look at Kent Johnsson, McTavish if he fell, Wallstedt (she had him ranked 3rd), Oscar Ollausson, Guenther, Aatu Raty.

The things heard about L Hughes were worse than the things heard about Ryan Merkley in his draft year, but his family pedigree will prevent him from falling.

She isn't a manager or director. She's an analyst in the analytics department.

According to fans? Devils fans generally don't have a good impression of her.

What is lazy is making a big claim with nothing to back it up. Of course some people "make things up." Do you live in a world where everybody tells the truth?

But sure, when Brian Williams said that the helicopter he was in was forced down by rockets he just wrong. Didn't make it up. Or when Hillary Clinton said that she was dodging sniper fire during a visit to Bosnia. She was just wrong. Didn't make things up. When Sekeres said that Hughes had to use an IV, he was just wrong. Didn't make things up.

Eklund also never makes up any trade rumours.
