Honestly the media has no right to be upset about Doerrie. She took something that was true in Pettersson being upset, and speculated and pushed it into something untrue. The media here and general does that shit all the time. Recent examples being the Hughes IV and the Miller-Horvat locker room split. Doerrie isn't a journalist as well, so I don't hold her to the same standard of journalistic integrity.

Good hire though. The analytics department was mighty thin.

Better not hire her then eh.

Well I don't know. I'm sure there are others here who have followed her takes over the years who are in a better position to evaluate her.

I'm just speaking from what I know which is that it looks like she was fired from the Devils and York's standings this year.

Hiding under WTG's bed...
Damn. She’s only 25 years old.
I’m 26. I feel very underaccomplished now
There’s still hope for you.:thumbu:

When Julius Caesar was a Quaestor of Spain at the age of thirysomething burst out in tears/wept when he saw the statue of Alexander the Great (given what little he had accomplished so far in his life compared to Alexander). Look what Caesar however accomplished later in life!

That's the issue though. If you are interviewing a candidate for the job, she holds herself out as a hockey analyst who has some connections, and you know she made stuff up online that made many people believe that she had some inside scoop, is that not a redflag?

This isn't some random twitter person.

It's apparent that just having "hockey people" making the decisions doesn't work. You also need people that have a mastery of law, statistics, communication, etc. Even if you don't care about diversity for reason of morality and justice, women are a almost completely untapped pool of management talent in the sports world. I think it's a progressive approach that should net you some low hanging fruit, even from the cold and calculating perspective.

Probably because she didn't actually make it up.

Boy, Aquilini sure knew what he was doing eh? Hiring JR!
Vancouver a "destination" that many are clambering to come here now.
Too bad he didn't interfere before FA's had to get double pay with clauses to come here.
I wouldn't mind seeing a female asst GM, at least they would not be part of the old boys network, stuff like the "unwritten rule" would go away, hopefully

Don't kid yourself it is the old boys network that prevents many qualified people from ever getting a chance.

Aquilini is probably considered a maverick owner now, hired Gillis, a player agent with no experience as a GM, but very smart and innovative GM.
Going to JR house to talk to him.
Now his team is breaking stereo types
