I've liked Mancini a lot but he isn't gonna last here this year IMO and that's fine. He's got so many great tools but his awareness and processing the game aren't really NHL level right now. He gets caught off guard on the rush very often but that can absolutely come with experience. Just think it might be better he gets 26 minutes a night in Hartford instead and let Jones play.

I think he's pretty safe after they scratched Jones to keep him in the lineup. The Rangers have always allowed their young defenseman to play once they have shown they made the roster. Miller and Schneider come to mind, both made the team and have barely missed games since. Fox obviously, but that was no brainer. Even going back to McDonagh.

I agree that it's not the end of the world if he does get sent down, but I dont think he will. The alternatives arent better. If Lindgren can get his feet under him, that's a pretty reliable partner too.

The flashes continue to be there but man this has been baptism by fire.

He hasn’t been good but playing him with a compromised Lindgren is basically asking him to do 2 jobs at once.
yeah I said it in another thread but his awareness and instincts are just not there yet. so much of it is there though and I get why they think more reps will help him. I'm worried that more reps with Lindgren is really not the answer though.

This is the Rangers in 2024. Mancini with the strong effort. Mika has a chance to take the puck the other way and in a lackadaisical effort loses it and it turns into a chance against.

That was not a lazy effort by Mika. It was a terribly mishandled puck. The lazy effort on that play was Schneider skating backwards into the corner instead of just stepping up after the Mancini hit and taking the puck forward.

Agree it was a mishandled puck.

Disagree about Schneider. There was a Caps player bearing down on the puck. Pretty sure Schneider was setting himself up for a quick pass from Zib so then he can skate up with plenty of ice. It would have been a nice quick exit if Zibs didnt flub the puck.

This shows they don't trust Mancini. But they trust injured vets that can't skate. He should request to be sent down for ice time. No reason he can't be sent down when Rangers dont play but Hartford does. He's 22 but some 29 year old vet. He needs ice time
