Some people really have it out for Byfield and I dont get it.
Hes finally locked down a spot on the roster and is playing like an NHLer.
The game has slowed down for him and hes not bobbling pucks and falling down in the corners every shift.
Him Kopitar and Kempe look like a legit top line we havent seen since Gaborik was on the Kings.
He was always going to be a project and he finally has taken a big step.
Even the Kings board posters that hate him are on board with his play since his call up.
He should not be traded. I for one would be really upset if hes moved because he has tools to be dominant.

It's easy, people's takes are always a year or two behind and the anonymity of the internet and poster egos make them double down even when they're totally wrong at which point they just disappear and/or delete the posts.

Looking forward to a lot of it re: Byfield.

If it is true what you say, then La La fans drank the Kool-Aid that most fanbases fall victim to.

They fall in love with the prospects that, through an entirely (apparently) random process of assigning the order of the draft, they end up drafting and ignore actual team building.

Keep your misfit prospects, yak about development, and stay attached to a team that is not constructed to win anything.

It's the best thing ever...

....to improve the chances of another, better-constructed team, to win a Cup.
Has nothing to do with Kool-Aid.
I rather see homegrown people fail here than succeeding elsewhere.

It's also weird to me how other fan bases constantly drop Byfield proposals being such a huge bust and waste of roster space.

Regarding to the Kool-Aid, it's more the people who want to talk L.A. into a playoff contender who had lot's of it. Reality is that during the next 2 years nothing Stanley Cup related will happen.
This is the time when you keep your youngsters to groom them for the time after.

Regardless, Byfield stays here you like it or not

You are confused on so many levels.

We just signed a goalie, which means we are out of a goalie trade.
We also do not compete for the cup.

There is not a single person in the Kings base that want to trade Byfield and the Kings brass also made it known that Byfield and Clarke are the future guys.

Chychrun and Demko have one thing in comon, they won't be Kings in the near future

Is this now clear?
There's that one King's fan that has complained about Byfield non stop since the draft.

Byfield is a 20 year old rookie playing on LA’s top line and top power play. Get lost lmao
Playing on the top line and actually performing on it are two different things.

Craig Smith is currently on the top line in Boston...

Tage Thompson was drafted in 2016. Took him 7 years to start producing. Just saying.
Except…it was year 6..5 th yr on contract . 4 th yr in actually playing

16/17 year 1 ncaa
17/18 year 2 AHL/NHL split on SaTL
18/19 year 3 Primarily on Buffalo
19/20. Year 4 final ELC. Was injured fir most of the season
20/21 year 5 bridge
21/22 year 6 bridge puts it together
22/23 year 7 bridge

To be fair he has been settling in. 6 points in his last 10 and a +4. No points last night but he was instrumental in a couple of Kempe's goals.

That’s been a recurring theme in Kings game threads this year too. Lots of third assists. Sounds like an excuse, but the only people complaining about Byfield right now are the ones not watching him. Byfield showing promise and playing well has practically united several factions on the Kings board 😅

In other news, every year there is a 2nd overall pick. Some may be good, some may be shit. Just sayin'

Stop comparing him to tage thompson or Nick Bjugstad. He's the one and only Quinton Byfield and give him the damn respect he so deserves.

Byfield's gonna be an absolute beast at center. He's playing wing right now and he's really coming into his own. With his speed, size and talent, guy's gonna be elite.

If Malkin didn't have Gonchar he would've taken a really long time to develop into what he was destined to be. With how modern day development takes place its not at all surprising for Byfield to take the path he has so far. He will be a beast. It just takes longer for modern day elite talent, especially bigger guys. I can't wait for this dude to be a force

Gonchar helped with the language barrier and making him more comfortable not Geno's talent level. Malkin wasn't brought up through the system. He was straight from the super league to the NHL. At the time, there was a small rumbling as who to take #1 between him and Ovechkin.

Geno's talent earned him 85 points and a Calder. Malkin isn't even remotely the same thing Byfield is going through. Are you attaching this because they are both 2nd picks and bigger players?

They also both have the Russian factor.

Highly doubt the Kings "give up" on Byfield.

You being from California telling someone from Minnesota that they are clueless about something hockey related probably isn’t the best look for you.
Yea being from Minnesota automatically makes you super knowledgeable about hockey. Do you realize how snooty and pretentious your post was?

He is producing. He’s got 10 points in 25 games this season and 6 in his last 10. He’s becoming a driving offensive force and is a big reason why Kempe and Kopitar have stepped up their production considerably.
Ignore the haters. He's far from a done product and like you said he has been playing well recently.

only had one assist last night but was a force in the third. Sent red hot Kempe in on a partial breakaway and set up about three other quality chances. The kid can fly, is learning to use his body, and is looking more confident every week.
