Value of: Quinton Byfield

It's the same 5-10 posters who keep coming to our door going "why are you so obsessed with me" in any Doughty or Byfield related thread.

I haven't posted anything about either player outside of the single post you replied to in this thread. Lol

Watched the Kings game tonight, the only time I heard the announcers call his name was when he lost 2 consecutive board battles. Thankfully he won the third battle. Then immediately flipped the puck out of play for a penalty.

And then Carolina scored the tying goal on that powerplay.

And then won the game in OT.

I hope the Kings keep him.

Tell us you haven’t watch QB without telling us you haven’t watch QB. He is not available and your post about not fitting is clueless.
You being from California telling someone from Minnesota that they are clueless about something hockey related probably isn’t the best look for you.

Tage Thompson will give teams extra hope for bigger players moving forward. (This isn't a Tage Thompson situation)

Wow, who knew that people from Minny had such superiority hockey complex's, maybe it's just you though...

What makes it so different? Genuinely curious

The whole Wild organization has nothing to offer that would move Byfield.
Since he is back from the AHL, he is really noticeable and has 5 points in his last 7 games.
I don’t know how you managed to forget we have Kaprizov. Or are you trying to outdo the OP for worst post in the thread?

Some of the most knowledgeable & passionate hockey people I know live in nontraditional locations. They often have to be to stay engaged.

On the flip side there are tons of ignorant posters from hockey hotbeds.

The inverse can also be true. Point being that judging someone's hockey expertise based on their location is incredibly stupid.

It's classic over valuing of his own players and undervaluing other teams, its a wonder why he even bothers to come on here since he doesn't think any player on any team is worth trading for, and every Kings player/prospect is pure gold.

You are right he is ahead of Thompson at the same age.

Not a Kings fan here but do not agree on any level. He has way more elite tools and we have seen a progression. Just keep hating though I am sure it is satisfying.
He has 9 points on the season and has been playing on the top line recently... I guess calling it like we see it is hating. He's 20 years old but so are a lot of players... For everyone that mentions it takes bigger players longer, he is so soft and doesn't use his body at all. He's a fast transition player with a great shot who hasn't shown great hockey sense at the professional level. We've seen this story before where someone dominates juniors from being bigger and faster than everyone else. We'll see what happens with him, I'd keep playing him on the top line or send him to the AHL to develop more, he was killing it down there.

He's on track with Jesse Puljujärvi.

No.

I was very vocal in my objection to the Kings taking Byfield over Stutzle but Quinton is starting to show something. He was advertised as a project and he's had his setbacks but to address the original point of this thread, no way Blake moves *him the way he's playing and developing now.

If the Kings want to make a push this year there are other assets they can move that are far less likely to come back and haunt them.

Big players do take longer, he also has a late birthday he literally turned 20, 6 months ago. Listen to the Chara interview if you dont think that it takes guys a while to grow into their bodies. He has the raw tools he needs to learn how to use them it all part of the process. He also has missed development time due to the pandemic and injury.

Also killing the AHL at 20 years old is very unique. But you seem to think that he is done developing. He isnt.

The only thing Rossi currently has on Byfield at the NHL level is he is more physical.... which is sad.
If you watched Rossi in jr it was obvious his physical capabilities really limits his ceiling. Was obvious Quinn was the much better prospect.

At worst, Byfield will be a beast of a 3rd line center that's defensively responsible with 20/20 capabilities.

Kings will not trade that player, they spent 5.5 per to bring that type of player in

As a Wild fan, I’d love to take a flier on him.

Seems like he doesn’t fit in LA or is a fringe NHLer?
What makes you think he does not fit in with LA? Since being promoted to top line LW Kopitar has been on fire.
Guy is looking really good, makes some rookie mistakes here and there, but sure as hell tries to make up for them afterwards.

Just for shits and giggles I would want Wallstedt, Rossi, Middleton for QB and Edler. So in other words...not available.

Byfield and Clarke will be the back bone for the future Kings so no deals unless it's an overpayment.
It's sad they get the hate, almost as sad as the posters wanting to waive Vilardi and JAD in the offseason. No doubt the Kings need to trim the herd a bit but I don't think they know which prospects they need to let go of yet.
