Speculation: Quinn Hughes wants to contend

LOL

So Quinn Hughes had an experimental surgery where they removed half his ankle and 40% of his heel

Ohhh wait that was Karlsson

Trash comparison

Yup. These three boys love the juice in a Canadian market. Jersey or Vancouver for winning. No comparison really. All Canadian cities are where to play when celebrating winning with fans. The cities come alive.
so death places for at least 32 years. sounds like a hell of an argument to attract free agents.

I see the main boards still haven't figured out how contract status effects trade value or why rentals never get big returns no matter who it is.

Not that a Hughes trade would ever happen anyways.

Canucks would do very well if they move all 3.. Hughes, Pettersson, Miller. Bold move yes but I believe they can get some very nice pieces and picks and a mini rebuild/retool might end up getting them in a better situation.

If I was a Canucks fan, I'd be very worried Hughes wants to leave due to the inability to turn the team into a contender. Early to say that but it's possible as he nears UFA. How the Canucks manage both Pettersson and Miller is very critical to Hughes's future with the Canucks.

He’s a Hart level Norris winning dman on his second straight likely Norris win. Giving up an underperforming Nemec and 2 D prospects along with a 50pt point young player and a late first is not much for this guy.

The offers in here for Hughes are embarrassing. Yeesh.
First of all, you’re talking about a guy with two years of control. If the thinking was he wanted to go to NJ anyway, it’s nonsensical that they’d trade that package when they could wait to FA. And the same logic applies to any other team - they aren’t parting with their prime assets (all of them) if they aren’t guaranteed they’re getting the guy long term.

Not bothering to go into your descriptors or lack thereof of the players themselves. No point. But I guess we’ll see.

There will be a market
Jersey is a winning environment
"Speculation his desire" huh? Who wouldn't want to play with your 2 bros?

Lots of NJ fans bothered by other fans not thinking Quinn is automatic to the Devils. But I guess let me be more clear.

- Unless these 5 asset packages get thrown to Vancouver, other teams will offer more. I quoted someone with a ridiculously low offer imo.
- I didn't say Jersey wasn't (although it isn't yet tbh), I said Vancouver wasn't and going to a winning environment could change his decision-making.
- When you're older, playing with your brother(s) isn't the first thing on your mind. It's the new family you're making, your career and then everyone else. It's not unreasonable to believe Quinn could get traded to a contender, that will pay him well and he's happy in and he'll forego leaving to New Jersey. As my example of the Staals was used to show.

You guys are nuts with these proposals. No team has the assets to trade for a 25 yeard old Hughes unless they want to gut their franchise.

all fair points. Quinn will cost a bunch, it will hurt. I have always said it wont happen, I may be wrong but I will still be a stunned if it does. Most pkgs made are overkill and its always less. Not to say that it still wont be a haul. Jersey is in a far better place than it has been in 10 yrs. The GM has made moves and created an atmosphere to that end. Its been a methodical build with him since getting the job. He really has not made a panic/win-now move that been detrimental. Palat move was worst, but at the time there were no available vets to help put them on the right track. Hamilton is the other one but you could argue that is was the long term investment which most Devs fans have agreed with. But Jack Hughes contract is teh best in the league. Sieganthaleer tooka dicaount to be here (said as much). Its all going in th eright direction. Exclsuing Quinn, they are a few small tweaks from being contenders liek Avs, Cats, Bolts

Doubt the Blackhawks would do it but 2025 unprotected pick, 2026 1st, Kevin Korchinski, Oliver Moore, would be awfully good package

Or it could be like the Neidermeyers, where a norris winning dman takes a discount to go play with his brother.
