Speculation: Quinn Hughes wants to contend

I’d personally pack his bags and drive him to the airport if he went to New Jersey. Watching Hughes, Hughes and Hughes is just too much to not want to see

a) Nut up and make a trade
b) Throw gas on fire

Keep doubling down on b
Vancouver has a large enough fan base that management could tell you water wasn’t wet and they’d still turn a profit every year

Unlike the others, there's no way he returns anything less than a King's Ransom, because he's 25 and about to win his second consecutive Norris. Every team in the league will ask about him.

Going to be hard to a big haul for Quinn because he's FA in 2 years and if he's not going to sign then (assuming he wants to play with his bros)...why would the receiving team give something insane for him?

Best case from the Devils - offseason probably - is Van takes back Hamilton and gets a Seamus Casey or Simon Nemec and calls it a day

I know Vancouver fans don't want to see it, but the prophecy has been set in stone as soon as NJ drafted Luke Hughes. Quinn is watching both of his brothers playing together & having a lot of fun. Not only that but they have a close knit locker room. They are also poised for cup success as they have all the major pieces needed for a true cup runs. They have multiple blue chip prospects not even in the nhl yet. If I'm Quinn I'm off to NJ to go.play with my brothers, have some fun, and join a team poised for long term success. If Quinn doesn't bolt to NJ as soon as the opportunity presents itself I would be straight up shocked.

This is just rosterbating.

IF we COMPLETELY start over he will want to leave.

Meaning we aren't completely starting over. It's really not that deep.

I think Rutherford's interview was trying to soften the market to the fact that we will, if we're lucky, trade J.T. for a flawed 2nd line center, a 1st, maybe a cap dump and a negligible prospect. In no way is that his 'worth' on paper, but contextually it is.

We're not doing a full rebuild. But moving off of Boeser and Miller is likely what has to happen this year.

That will also open lots of cap space and offer us assets which we can relay into other players who fit the time frame.

With Willander and whatever assets we get, I think we can be better next year than we are this year.

If Canucks end up trading Hughes his value will be whatever the highest bidder is willing to pay. Despite what Canuck fans hope for the salary cap severely limits the teams interested in this kind of player
If they're adding Hughes, teams will make room.

Other teams would. If you know where he is going it doesn’t make sense to make a huge move.

Karlson didn’t

Mercer. Nemec. 1 is more than Demelo. Norris and 1
Norris is better than Mercer.
DeMelo is underrated and better than Nemec is currently
The 1st turned into Stutzle
They also got a decent checking type forward in Turney.

Ah yes, the old he is going to come here for free in 2 years so we should not have to pay market value for him.
