I can't believe that he's somehow playing even better than last season, a season where he was the best defenceman in the NHL.

Last season he finished 15th in NHL scoring while playing alongside a 103 point player, an 89 point player and a 73 point player.

This season his highest scoring teammate is on pace for 67 points. And he's still 15th in NHL scoring. He's carrying significantly more of the offensive load and still producing at an elite level.

We haven't seen a team so reliant on a single defenceman since prime Karlsson.

Don't forget, doing it largely without being on a super pairing alongside Hronek.

What I find strange is that there weren't too many signs that he improved heading into the season.

He is quite literally the leading Hart trophy candidate if you go by what the award is supposed to be about (i.e. the player most valuable to his team). This team looks like a top Stanley Cup contender with him on the ice and a disorganized disaster/lottery team without.

To be fair , this team has never looked like a “top Stanley cup contender” this year for more than 30 seconds.

How do we get him to not go play with his brothers in 2 years?? This franchise will be literally dog shit on 2 years if he decides to go to Jersey. Honestly I don’t see a world where he stays here with both his bros on the same team already.

Our main problem (aside from the brother thing) is that NJ has a core that is just entering their contention window. Quinn could end up walking right onto a Cup contender in a few years and put them over the top - mind you, they'd have to absorb his soon-to-be massive cap hit.

Meanwhile, our window was widest last season and is shrinking now. It won't be more than 3 or 4 seasons until we need to start planning for a rebuild/retool of sorts.

So we get 1 playoff round win in what 10 years then rebuild? Yikes.

Pretty sure the Devils are like 6-1 against us in the past couple of years, and the games haven't been close.

It's like they're giving him a glimpse of what life could be like on the other side every time we face them.
