Meanwhile, the Sens came away with a powerplay on this:

The hit was obviously a bad one, but it's hard to argue about who instigated the fight even if i feel like the calls on who started it is a coin-toss sometimes.

It’s 2 mins. Boarding and softish, but no embellishment either.

I don’t understand how in God’s name they can call that a major and game misconduct.
Had no choice, if an injury (ie cut and stitches in this case) from boarding, it’s a major and a game.
See rule 41.5 I think

Even though it’s been said a dozen times or more in thread. Apparently no one is reading.

Some of the blame is on Norris. I dont think he dove, but he certainly wasnty ready to be shoved, and he should have been. It's the only reasonable explanation as to why such a soft 'hit' would lead to what happened.

Again.. 2 mins would have been fair. This coming from a Sens fan.

Wasn’t a “fight” because then they would have had to give Ullmark something.

Read the rule. They could (should have) reversed it to a minor after review, then the blood/game misconduct thing becomes irrelevant because it's no longer a major penalty.

The penalty should not have been held up as a major.

I'm not sure they would have the grounds to rescind it unless the review shows that the cut was resulting from a different play. I'm assuming the original call was boarding?

It sounds like the refs followed the letter of the law?

That's a laughably bad call. I missed the game. Did they actually review the call and still came up with 5 and a game, for this?!

League wheel of justice and rules is just truly roll of dice and see what lands. Terrible officiating isn't an outlier in the NHL(pro sports wide) frustrating to watch sometimes
