At the rink.
Hi everyone!

Here's a jersey concept I made for the possible expansion franchise from Quebec City.

Home and away:

A few words about the concept:

The goal was to create something that connects the original Quebec Nordiques with the Nordiques 2.0, since it will have nothing to do with the original franchise, while somewhat sharing the history. It is similar to the Winnipeg Jets, who went back to the name of their original franchise, while going with a new color scheme and redesigned jerseys.

Since the Nordiques wouldn't be the only team in Quebec, I thought it would make little sense to have jerseys that look so much like the province Quebec's flag -- even though the original franchise did it. Therefore, the new color scheme is that of Quebec City.

The old, new logo is the historical one with the new color scheme, while featuring the ship from the Quebec City flag. The fleurs de lis were allowed to stay, though, to keep another connection to the historical franchise, as well as the province.

I also created an alternate jersey, but wanted to keep it away from the home and road ones, as I realized that it looks a lot like the Nashville Predators. Oh well.

Let me know what you think, and feel free to post other concepts you made or found on the internet!

As a reference, here's the city's flag:

Here are two updated concepts:

Update #1 is the same as the last with the original franchise's light blue, while keeping the yellow/gold of the original concept. The color scheme reminds a little bit of the California Golden Seals, although I like these colors better than those of the Seals. The fleurs de lis were removed from the bottom. Overall, I have to say that I like the navy blue from the flag better, though. If they went with this color scheme, the yellow/navy alternates from above would be a nice addition to the set, though.

Update #2 is the same color scheme, but a different logo and no fleurs de lis on the bottom. I am neither creative enough for logos nor do I have the graphic skill for it. But I kind of like this one, even though it probably isn't an NHL logo. Once it was done, I saw it more as a shoulder patch, which would still look really cool on the concepts above.

The logo is the outlines of the letters QC (for Quebec City or Quebec, whichever one you prefer), with the boat from the flag in it. The city's flag with minor alterations if you will.

All that said, I know that this wouldn't be an NHL logo, but I wanted to share it anyway.

I did realize that the colors are Buffalo Sabresque. But I like it too much to change it. So here's another new logo. Also added the fleurs de lis back in, because I like it better with them. Don't worry, this will likely be it for now. ;)

Here's what I came up with after all your feedback (Thanks so much!). New logo, new color scheme, old color scheme. Still not sure what I like the best.

They aren't bad. But they're not better than the actual Nords uniforms that they last wore in their final season. I haven't seen any concepts that are better than the real thing.

I think you did a good job, it's cool how you incorporated the city's colors and the ship logo into the jersey, nice touch. However I'm with rt, it's just hard envisioning them not in the colors and design they last had before they moved to Colorado. That's not a knock on your concept, it just is hard to adjust to. Then again, they were going to redesign to a Wolf logo so who knows

Those are good, but that design is similar to one that already exists in the NHL -- the Buffalo Sabres' uniform. Blue and gold are also used by St. Louis. You may want to tweak the color scheme.

They look nice, but I'm hoping we can steer away from rehashing old franchises if the NHL does expand to cities with retired franchises. Such as the Nordiques. I thought it was slightly cheesy when the Jets did it, but one is plenty.

Thanks for the feedback! I know that it's hard to envision them in anything else than their last uniforms, at least in a modernized style. But then, the Jets did a full rebranding. And as you mentioned, they were about to change to terrible wolf jerseys.

I think a lot is possible, but it won't be the exact thing they last wore.

Thanks for your feedback! You will have to explain the similarity to the Sabres though, besides the colors. It honestly reminded me more of the Swedish national team at first, but that changed when I added the logo and fleurs de lis.

Thanks for the feedback! I totally see where you're coming from, but I think I'd disagree on the matter. It's sad to see great franchises leave, so I think it's great to see them back. Do I care about the "loss" of the Thrashers or would I care if the Coyotes moved? Definitely not. But the Jets and Nordiques, those were awesome franchises.

I think those look great.

Thank you!

I like the modern twist and using the old logo. IMO the new Nords are going to have to let the fleur de lis go or at least how they used it as jersey decoration. If they want to build a new primary or alt logo around it fine, but leave how it was used in the past. The ship logo is pretty neat, that would be nice as an alt logo and I have no problem if they want to use the old Nords logo too. Will be interesting to see what they choose to do.

I'm all for the Nordiques coming back. But it really should be on the condition that the decapitated elephant logo never rear its ugly self again.

I've heard a couple different reasons for the concept and that's nice and all. But its ugly. Try again.

Jnk, i like your concept but not the colour palette so much. The ship is a good idea but it's too small imo.

If you use the following link you'll be transported to the business board's Nordiques thread. I linked it to page 14, try the 1st link there, i don't like the Wolf logo on that same page though (looks like a junior hock thing). You'll get plenty of logos from p.14 to p.19. One of my favourite is the one featuring the snow owl (Harfang des Neiges).

Enjoy & feel free to comment there or here as you wish, looking forward to your feedback.

...and keep on drawing! :)

I like the color scheme just as much as the old ones but as a fan of simplicity would suggest replacing the red with gold (or do the new blue logo with an outline) from the last jersey

Nordiques4.html

An alternative to the logo would be a large fleur-de-lis.

EDIT: Like this

If there is a team that wouldn't need a jersey update, it's Quebec. The old ones were one of the best jerseys in the league.

The logo smells a bit of the 1970s and could use an upgrade.

I'd be very surprised if the Quebec team is not named the Nordiques

The colors are just too common now. The home and away look like Buffalo or St. Louis and the alternate looks like Nashville. The light blue was much better.

Quebec Bulldogs won the Stanley Cup in 1920.

Better name than the 'Nordiques' (Which is french for 'Nordics', or 'Scandinavians').

Nice work and especially the ship in the logo is really neat.

However, I have to say, I thought the original Nordiques jerseys looked the best in the league and I hope they come back with something closer to the original colors.
