Unless Czech players underestimate USA for whatever reason, they should advance. I really don't think Germany would have been an easier opponent...

Even before they lost 2 forwards from their lineup, Germany is/was an inferior team to USA. In their game, Yanks badly out shot them. The difference was goaltending and puck luck. Germany was gifted, in the last minute, by a seeing eye shot, from the pt, which wound up in USA's net. Icy surface, frozen disk, strange things happen sometimes- that's hockey. But have these 2 teams meet ten times, and Germans would be lucky to win 4...
