3 on 3 is terrible, regardless of who wins. I just saw the replay of Stone's overtime goal and had forgotten that it would be 3 on 3. It's probably better than a shootout win but it still sucks.

This post is not an invitation for a tiring lecture on the "why" of 3 on 3 or shootouts. It is an acknowledgement that 3 on 3 and shootouts suck.

I have never heard a single player complain about it after they win.

I’d rather lose in 3-3 OT than a shootout, I applaud the IIHF for implenting 3-3 OT, too many big games including gold were being decided by a shootout, that’s unlikely to ever happen again now, and that’s a good thing for this tournament and the sport of hockey in general.

I do hate the shootout that's for sure.

Canada has reminded everyone that games last 60.00 minutes, not 59.59.

That's the big takeaway here, for both hockey players and spectators. Lots of fans in any sport tune out when they think it's "over" whether they're winning or losing. I've seen some incredible comebacks in sports - this doesn't necessarily count as one of those "down 4-0 at the half to win 5-4" types, but it sure registers when you think the game's over with 5 seconds left.

What a freaking finish to the game. Props to the Swiss team for playing well, just got to close it out next time :p

Exactly. Dubois did everything.

If that was the case wouldnt he have just scored? It cant be a good play by both players? Since Dubois moved on to that line instead of Strome it has been unstopable.

Damn it, Stone. Act like Canada doesn't care about this tournament.
He just loves hockey and winning. Terrible player to have around all the sens youth for the rebuid. Oh wait Melnyk.

Canada hit like 5 posts and dominated the second half, though. Not even close to what you’re describing. What even was the luck? A last second goal isn’t “luck” just because it’s rare.
Yes, I indeed do consider giving up a goal with 0.4 seconds left to be unlucky.
