Today we could lose it :S But ah well... Good win!

Unfortunately Denmark did not give us a lesson because our teams always play like on training against weaker teams, only when something goes out of our plan, game will be changed. From year to year the same thing is happening again and again.

It was just awful, Varnakov's Switzerland game is a good comparison. Svechnikov just was watching the game all that time... no, actually it looked like he was looking for a working stream to watch this game.

I can relate.

As we say, we took some Validol for that ending :D, but yeah, I know, Russia always gives us these nasty surprises, at least they won, God was I happy. Do they have to do this to us??

Is it too late to replace Svechnikov with Guryanov or anyone else? A warm body?

The way they played in the 2nd half of the 3rd and in OT is their actual level - the first 2 periods, it seems they weren't even trying. Don't know what the hell they were doing in those periods.

Well, underestimation...
I could write a book about this with czech teams :D

Provorov was spectacular, especially in 3rd period and in overtime. 2 goals created by him. I doubt that Russia would win without him today.

Yeah...but if he had stayed in Russia, he would have done it earlier in the game so it would not have gotten to OT.

:sarcasm:

Not surprise for me. Last year Russia won against Denmark only in SO.

last year they had Ehlers and Bjorkstrand though.

This year the top end talent wasn't as good, but it seemed like they had better depth throughout the lineup. Their top end talent will get better next year as most of their top guys will be back and will be a year older.

Full marks to Russians, I missed the first and second. It looked like men against boys in the 3rd and ot. Denmark was just hanging in looking for a bounce. They got it on the tying goal but chances are that you don't get another when you can't get out of your own end.

Denmark played well, however like you noted from the mid 3rd on the Russians really put on the pressure. Provorov stood out and after watching him today I was really impressed with the little things he does so well. Anyway my hat is off to Denmark and wish Ivan and Radel the best.

You guys have that too? :D

You have no idea.. just check our game results against "smaller" hockey nations at several last WHCs :D
Even though everyone (media, fans..) were saying before this WJC how important would it be to finish the group first, I actually thought playing US, Canada or Sweden might be better for us than Switzerland/Denmark..
We'll see in the evening but the States seem really strong this year so it's probably irrelevant anyway :D

Haven't read thru thread...Doubtless everybody's gushing over Danes ( mere seconds away from biggest upset in tourney history imo ) and rightly so...As for me?

I wanna congratulate those Russian Kidz. Sure they sleep walked for 40 minutes. Sure they were ALMOST authors of their own demise. But they stared Death in the face and Death blinked...TWICE!

Think shots were something like 25-6 in 3rd and OT. Danes were totally gassed and desperately trying to hang on...

Right team won SANS DOUBT!

PS: Russian goalie had the Yipes there...Coulda easily worn Goat Horns...

Yeah, just total puck possession dominance late. I've seen much worse shot ratios in this tournament, so I'm assuming the Danes held the perimeter early. Provorov makes it look so easy and has such good vision. Hard to find flaws, he's just so efficient.
