I think most were legitimate penalties. That being said, when you've just given a team 3 straight powerplays, you probably call incidental contact and in the crease on Larkin and just take the play out of the zone.

Diving? Not much. Embellishment? Yes, but such is hockey at any level. Dear fellow US posters, stop *****ing, it makes us look like punks. Dem are da breaks. We have two periods left, time to chip away and get back into this. I assume there will be make up calls. When we get those calls, we better capitalize.
I like you. You seem resonable, which is oddly uncommon in GDTs.

Hope to see a better period from USA in the second. Thought they were better 5v5 but not as good as they should be.

My thoughts exactly. Stop taking dumb penalties, and get back in this game.

Only one call was bad (the toe pick by the Russian player).

Some really lazy penalties by the Americans.

Who is Motte and why is he on the top line? Seems the play always dies on his stick...

That would be called conflict of interest. We don't do that. Although we all know how low the bar in certain countries is today.

Also known as, the only excuse left in the book. That Sochi gold medal eliminated all the others.

On topic, being down 2-0 after playing short-handed half the period is not a terrible position to be in, if you are the US.

Everyone siding with the officials has a little Canada flag on here. Why do you all hate us so much.

The big brother(CAN)-little brother(USA) effect. Pretty much one of the rare cases in NA where the shoe is on the other foot for each nation.

I think the U.S. will win and I hate the way Russia plays. I think you are the better team and I think you dominated. Having said all that, those penalties weren't bad calls - altho, I did not see the Larkin one.

All the calls seemed legit to me. Larkin's was an obvious penalty IMO, especially being international play.

But Jesus Christ, I guess no Canadian fan has EVER disagreed with one call in the history of the tournament

As bad as the Americans played in the 1st period, I have no doubt in my mind they'll come back. Only thing I'd be worried if I was on that US squad is you just gave Russia a 2-0 lead, and I think their goalie can steal one.

Russia does look more focused and determined to win and you can tell that they have come prepared. USA looks the opposite, they look nervous and on edge and that is why they keep Malung misstakes. Hopefully they talk things through during the break so they can re-focus and we'll see a game.

USA playing very sloppy and irresponsible. Gotta step it up! All calls seemed legit to me.

Yanks have only themselves to blame for the hole they dug...& I'm cheering for red, white & blue.

All those penalties were legit, even the last one on Larkin. Just keep skating thru the top of crease don't jump toward nettie, plus clock him with ur glove..

The Larkin call was the most obvious. I don't care if you intentions are to avoid another player, you can't John Cena the goaltender and expect to not get called.

Canadians don't like passes and skilled game...what a suprise. Better get some fights going...
