He takes the game way way too seriously. It's cute and funny.

I don't agree with everything he said, but your teams could learn from him. I am not sure they were prepared to play today. I know the number of penalties killed any momentum they could have generated, but that power play was terrible. They fumbled the puck and kept everything outside - essentially doing the Russian's work for them.

They should have taken the Russians more seriously. They capitalize on their chances. Always have, always will.

I'll agree that the Americans seem to fair better as an underdog, though I think you can say that about a lot of teams.

The powerplay was the same all tournament. So bad. And they aren't my teams.

Good teams sometimes lose in the quarters, especially if they face a hot goalie. It happens and it happens even more often in the semis. It certainly does not mean their best players won't be high draft picks/successful NHLers.

And gloating, particularly second hand gloating, is classless.

Kevy you watch the nhl? There's plenty of good americans. Our juniors won this thing like two years ago. I think you're overreacting.

And they never changed their approach.

Don't think I saw one PP sequence where they tried working a play from behind the net. Eichel could have been quite useful from there.

I guess Osiecki felt he was being patient, expecting the PP and the line combos to click. At some point, patience is just stubbornness, or worse.

It's just a hockey game. USA was probably the stronger team but the Russians got it done today. Congrats to them. I wish them the best of luck the rest of the way.

I was really hoping for a Canada-U.S.A. gold medal game. T he Americans have supplanted the Russians and Swedes as our biggest rivals so those games are fun to watch. Eleven players on the U.S. team are eligible to play again next year so I'm already nervous about that. Tough loss today but they'll be back.

Disappointing loss, just too many dumb penalties. Really can't fault the refs. Never really felt that there was any chemistry developing, even preliminary games against weaker teams. PP was atrocious for the entire tournament as well.

Incredible. Americans somehow managed to find a way to loose the quarterfinal game vs. Russia a second consecutive year having an advantage in the most part of the match again. I couldn't have believed my eyes, really. They were one of the LEAST-penaltized teams in the preliminary round but they contrived to have so many absolutely dumb and dumbiest and unrequired penalties (not explanable) that I can say they did everything and even more to try to loose the game in the first period.

I don't know any other team with so much of talent and with so weak desire to learn from its own mistakes. For them it repeats almost every WJC. So, I suppose, that's a fault of a coaching staff. Weak coaching has been the MAIN problem for the USA Hockey for many years...

Russia and USA are 2 great hockey developing countries right now, one had to lose. I like that this sport has more parity then basketball or football. Not baseball though

I'm not sure if I even want to know how they managed to lose this game....Oh well. Pulling for Russia the rest of the way.

Denmark wins and celebrates and it is described as being cute, and gets a must see on TSA.ca

Russia celebrates and its classless..

Double standards?

My take on the game...

Russia : I have NO idea how you are winning. The team is awful and you were dominated. But, just like against Canada, you hung on and won. It baffles me.

I am very worried about a repeat of the Canadian exhibition game where we outshoot you 50-15, yet you win. Anyway, I hope Sweden beats you because if Canada doesn't win Gold, Russia will.

U.S. : You guys are sooooo overrated. All the bragging and posturing about your U17/U18 Dream Team and the prospects that should be 4 of the Top 5 players in this year's draft. What a joke. These players play in a glorified beer league ("but they play against men!!!") and then can't compete against the best from other countries. An American player gets 5 points against the Sisters of The Poor and we never hear the end of it. Come to the CHL is you are really that good.

The U.S.

Struggled against Slovakia.
Should have been beaten by the Fins.
Canada smoked you.
Russia beat you playing terrible hockey.

Last point...

You won Gold twice when no one saw you coming - in 2010 and 2013. When teams do, like this year, more often than not you are lucky to finish fourth. Welcome to Canada's world of being a team to beat. The difference, we can handle the pressure - comes from being the best.

[MOD]

Yeah nothing says handling pressure like not wining gold for 5 years

You guys won your first game ever at the tournament. Worthy celebration.

Russia celebrated like they were going to the final. A little over the top? Maybe. But the Russia-USA rivalry is rather underrated IMO, so I can understand the Russian players excitement.

My take on the US's pathetic performance, and what went wrong:

From player selection to line combinations and in-game management, Osiecki proved to be way in over his head at this tournament. Many scratched their head at the inclusion of Miles Wood and Anthony Louis, and neither did anything to prove the naysayers wrong, both going pointless.

I don't think the Russians over celebrated until the US players started to mix it up along the boards after they couldn't get it into the zone in the final seconds. I did it too. Whenever a team tried to take liberties at the end of a game that they lost I'd always ham up on the win celebration

If it was in similar fashion as the above posted gif, then anger would be very warranted....was that at last years u18? That was completely classless. But just happiness about beating a rival is fair game.

Man just finished watching the game. Russia should be suspended from this tournament for the diving display they put on. I've never seen anything like it. Don't know how they can be proud of a victory like that. An absolute embarassment to the sport and the country of Russia.
