Not sure if Söderström was in goal or not but other than that I think it was pretty much the same roster. Of course it good for the players to get used to the ice size and the overall teamplay other than that I guess the Canadians are simply better.

We made 2 cuts after that game, Ward was in goal and the lines looked very different. It was also our first exhibition game but Canada's 4th.

Yes and every game is different. Obviously Sweden have to play really well to get to earn a medal, but its not impossible, the Swedish players are pretty good, they just have to minimize the mistakes some how

Kempe plays solid all the time, what is he supposed to do? I mean he is great on the PP but he has been named player of the game one time already too. Man some of us expect significantly more out of one player then we do another.

He scored two goals in the game on the PP he was elected player of the game. Other than that he didn't do anything. I am not complaining he does what he does very well but he is a complementary player. As long as he isn't making any mistakes ( so far none that I can think of) and continues to chip in especially on the PP I am more than pleased.

I'm curious about the alleged high-stick on Holmström. Has anyone seen any videos?

No, but they showed replay of it during the game. Pretty obvious one, but the refs missed it. Unintentional, but should have been a penalty. Was in first period.

I was referring to the one on Hintz, right before Honka got penalized for playing without a helmet.

Turned off the match after 1-3. Should have had a bit more faith in team Finland but this year the team has been pretty average and I haven't been toos excited about the tournament. Some good hockey was played apparently.

Good luck to Sweden! I hope you guys win it!

Tough loss for the Finns.

The Swede's were perfectly beatable in this game, I honestly felt team Finland was the better team at even strenght but a lousy powerplay and a couple tough/unlucky 5 on 3 situations against were the deciding factor's last night.

As usual when we play Finland, people blaming the referees. The point is, when you are not interested in playing a possession game, penalties will come to you.

Finland was 3-2 at even strength and was the "better team", everybody who watch the game knows it, even swedes. Finland lost the game because too much penalties, **** happens.

I don't agree. I think the better team won. Finland looked good, though. But that was no surprise.

bad pp
not the best goalie performance from husso - 4:3 can be saved as example
bad coaching stuff - must bring saros for husso after 3 goals in 4 mins

next year i will travel to helsinki to chair finland to a medal :-)

Except this time we're blaming the ref for giving the Swedes penalties. It was obvious they were trying to prevent us from scoring.

Haha its hilarious! thats alot of finns com to Aftonbladet and cry out how the ref worked against the finns:laugh:

seriously... you got your ass kicked Fair and square!

I didn't see the game so I can't judge which team was the better one. But according to the IIHF report of the game the Finns lost the game because of a bad PP and no scores in the PP. The Finns could play twice 5 agains 3 and didn't exploit it.

Obviously it was the main problem of the Finns in this tournament: scoring. If you check the scorer statistic, there is in the top 10 not one single Finn. There are 4 Swedes, 4 Canadiens, 1 from USA and 1 Czech. The best Finn is ranked as 24th. Ok the Russians don't have too, but there are at least 3 placed before the first Finn.

I don't know if Jortikka is the right coach for the NT. You Finns may know it better, but he was long time ago for a short time also coach here in Switzerland for the SC Bern. He wasn't successfull neither, it seems he belongs to the coaches with no success. Or has he reached something big in his coaching career?

Nothing since 2001

And yes, he was a horrible coach for this team.

Well, some sour losers here and there. Nothing new in the realm of HFboards. We losing the game was solely our own fault. If you don't score on the PP and suck at PK then you will get burned badly at this level. Just stop complaining about the refs it's really sad.

sorry to my fellow Finns.

I tried.

Cheered my heart out.

TSN noticed, lol.
