Did I hear earlier that the Slovaks discontinued their HK20 Orange team (Junior development team much like USNTDP).

Yes, they instead gave some financial benefits to extraliga teams that ice a junior in a game or something like that. So far every team has been icing some junior afaik.

I'm a huge Leafs fan but I want Ottawa or San Jose to win the lottery so Ottawa can draft Lafrenière. I miss the good old days and the Battle of Ontario.

Not the optimum period I wanted but I kind of expected that after the Foote incident, the players heads get going and they start to think too much when that goes down very early in a game. Intermission break is just what this team needs to settle things down and come out ready to go in the 2nd.

That ejection call is pretty brutal.

The Slovak player basically lowered himself to Foote's waist. Foote didn't change course at all, and did not extend his elbow, he skated clear path at the guy who tried to duck out of the hit ...

Outside of 2 or 3 odd man rushes and of course the 5 minute powerplay, Canada has been skating circles around the Slovaks.

Those circles were too ineffective though. Sweden and Finland looked far more dominant against us. I do expect Canada to switch to a higher level in the coming 2 periods.

I agree, Canada is not getting a lot of prime opportunities to the net and the ones they are, Hlavaj has turned aside. A fresh period might change things.

Slovaks look like they have no business playing in the elite division, let alone the playoffs.
Think they should go to 8 teams? Jesus Austria is in next year. What do you think that will be like? It’s 1-0 after a period against a powerful team.

We should want the next goal badly, you don't want to let the fans get into it and start banging their Buffalo drums in the crowd and get the Slovak team thinking at any point that they are in this thing.
