Yeah we have too many players. Having said that, two UFAs that I would look at are Comtois and Daniel Sprong , a kid who actually may have had his break out season last year.

I can't see the Habs ever acquiring Comtois, McLeod, Hart or anyone from the 2018 WJC team who was in London at that event until after the criminal investigation is complete and their names get cleared. The PR stings from drafting Mailloux are still fresh and this Team Canada situation was far worse.

I think as is right now Laf is a 2nd line winger. Maybe Nichols and Marty can squeeze him into a top 6 that rotates from top line to 2nd line, but that's more or less what we're likely getting.
I would not pay a king's ransom just to get a 2nd line ceiling player, regardless of age.
