We should retain 50percent of hoffman for a 7th pick.

If the corpse of Dadonov was traded. Also somehow got an extension, hoffman should be trade able.

Dvorak at 50percent should get us a 2nd pick. Cheaper center who can play middle 6 for a deep playoff team.
Dvorak i expect to be traded. He's a type of player GMs like to have on the 3rd line and could produce in the right circumstance. Hoffman and Armia will be tough. Habs need someone who wants a pure scorer and think Hoffman can produce on their team to a good extent (since he is a liability asides from that).

Retaining on Hoffman affects only this year. No problem. It costs us less than the waive/bury route.

Retaining on Dvorak affects 24-25. Hughes says he does not want to do that, and I concur.

What contending team would want Hoffman on their roster even if they payed nothing? Habs sure as hell aren’t getting even a 7th rounder or he’d already be gone. He’s a liability on the ice.

Ya but why would retaining on Dvorak for an extra year be a big deal? The 2.25 cap space is a nonissue and we would still have 2 retention slots to use on Allen/Armia/Savard if we want to trade them.

Wasn't ultra glue guy Chris Wideman in that car as well?
Supposed to have been one of the six players. I haven't watched the video, believe it's on youtube. Martin Raymond who apparently gets heavily criticized in the video, was an assistant coach in Tampa when Martin St. Louis was there.

We're at 41 contracts if all RFAs sign. What's the problem?
Habs have 7 prospects with expiring rights in 2024 and 6 in 2025. They have to keep contract slots open for the next two years to sign a few of them. A few AHL twinner vets will probably be signed tomorrow too and you always want 2-3 slots free for opportunities (eating salary in trades, cap dump, etc).

That number will go up fast.

lol. I kind of miss Barginbin dumpster diving. I hope now we have Hugo handout dumpster diving.
It was fun to see which 2000s/2010s former big name player we could pickup during their final playing years! Semin, Hemsky, Staal, Murray, Perry, Gonchar, Briere and Niemi. If we only got them during their prime!

If there are some takers for Hoffman and/or Dvorak, would be interesting to try out Maxime Comtois. Would be an ideal 3rd/4th liner and still young to grow with the rebuild.

I often forget a lot of those guys (save for Staal and Perry, who could forget that cup run!?) were Habs. Same goes for Vanek and Kaberle

As for ppg….i believe we have 3 who can come pretty close to that in Cole, Nick, and Kirby. And even Mike Matheson, a Dman, was pretty impressive last year.

cole….36 points in 46 games
nick…66 points in 82
kirby….38 points in 58
mike….34 points in 48

we are getting there….Im just not as concerned as some are about absolutely needing a Jack Eichel on our team….
I mean, even Eichel was ‘’only’’ PPG this year.

All qualifying offers have to be in by 5 p.m Friday, June 30th. Any RFA who doesn't get a qualifying offer becomes a UFA on July 1st

Players that needs Q.O.s:

Denis Gurianov (probably not)
Alex Newhook
Rafael Harvey-Pinard
Jesse Ylonen
Lucas Condotta
Mitchell Stephens
Joel Teasdale
Nicolas Beaudin

The buyout window closes at 5 p.m. Friday, June 30th too. Last day to buyout Mike Hoffman.

I expect Montreal to do nothing for free agency on July 1st. It's a terrible year for UFAs, and the team's roster is too big as it is. I expect signings for Laval and that's it.

Free Agency begins at Noon, July 1st. Happy Canada Day!

Oh brother... we gave up 1st and high second for newhook and not even sure he'll sign? That's awesome.

I don't expect anything

Edmundson and Hoffman will have "value" closer to the TDL.

Our roster is already set and we won't spend on not necessary UFA. Nothing moves the needle.

Our core seems set :

Newhook, Dach, Slaf, Suzuki, Caufield

Guhle, Reinbacher, Hutson

Its very nice and promising but it needs seasoning and i think its all about growing these player now. Once its done and they are ready to take the next step, i expect Hugo to be very agressive on the UFA and trade market to surround them adequately.

2023 is not the year just yet.

Will still take the day off tomorrow, smoke a puff and enjoy the day.
