How many defenseman does Finland have? Still four?

We won't know until tomorrow. Sopanen is unlikely to return, while Keskitalo and Saarijärvi may or may not be healthy and fit in time(they were out with illness). So between four and six as far as I know.

I'll be surprised if Canada beats Finland tomorrow. The talent is more than enough, but this team is getting worse every game. If that trend continues it should be a comfortable win for Finland. I expect the favourites (Sweden, Russia, USA) to all win.

Quit your whining already. The Czechs got two two-minute minors in the 3rd, and neither of them was a non-call.

Besides, if the refs were "biased", why did they (very fairly) call Kapanen 10 seconds before the end? I mean, why give the Czechs a 10-second 6-on-4 right before the final whistle, if they really wanted Finland to win?

I didn't see a replay (Well I did during the game, but I didn't search for it after the game) but I didn't see any holding during the first penalty. The second penalty was right though, Stransky did get the two minutes penalty fairly so. That Kapanen penalty is not even worth mentioning... Instead of that silly ''compensation'' he should have called the foul on Chlapik, which I believe was in the 3rd period (And it happened when the score was like 4:3 or 4:4, not sure though) and unlike the Kapanen one, we would have played PP for 2 minutes (Most likely), not just 10 seconds. What was even more ridiculous about it though, when the Finn (Don't know who it was) tripped Chlapik, he knew it was faul, he already look at the referee with that ''I did nothing'' look, yet there was no call (And the referee was like two metres mext to it)

But honestly, I am not surprised you didn't see any bias in that, in last year's WHC that was played in Czech Republic, during the quaterfinal match CZE v FIN, here on HFB there was a lot hate the referee helped us there, yet I didn't see anything wrong.

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.

Go to TSN, they have VODs up for yesterdays game. Jump to a random point in the game, finland has possession. Jump to another point in the game, finland has possession. An so on, and so on.

Finns dominated the first and were quite clearly the better team in the second. In the third you could argue Czechs were a bit better.

edit. I think the strong third period from Czechs distorted some people's views a little bit...

Since when does possession set who's better? I watched Czech v Belarus game and we had most of the time possession, yet you could still argue the game was very even or that the Belarus was more dangerous, both are true after all. Possession /= Chances. Besides, I don't agree Finland had the majority of the possession. Just like Finland managed to lock us many times in our third, we managed to the same. After all, Czechs had more shots on the net than Finns had. Just like possession, shots don't set who was the better team, but if the Finns were that beast possession team you are trying to tell me, we couldn't have had more shots. That's just simply unlogical.

Still think that U.S is the most complete team in the tournament, only sweden can match their skating.

To think they could have had Eichel, Larkin etc too... scary

Can be even less than 4 if other players gets sick too.

You know the reason I don't see any bias? It's because the Czechs drew three two minute minors they were supposed to kill in the entire game - just one more than Finland. The stats show five, but one of them was a roughing call for both and one ended practically at the point when Saarela was sent into the box for a very weak crosscheck straight from the draw. (I guess you can call that last one justified, but you'd have hard time arguing ref bias regardless.)

Finland was given whoppin' six minutes of man advantage in the entire game, so it still astonishes me how one bothers to cry a ref bias after such mediocre amount of PK time. So man up, turn on the lights on the attic and realize that the Czechs didn't lose because of the refs - they lost because Finland was pretty damn lethal on power play.

Russia wins 5-1 Canada loses 3-1 .. my predictions .. Russia wins gold ! Canada dont win a medal

Possession means better team? really eh. How about shots? 35-27 in favour of Czechs. Does that mean anything? No eh.

I very doubt you beat Denmark just 3:2

That's what happened last year though - the Danes were leading 2:0 and we barely managed to win that game. So I think it's psychological and our boys have to come out completely focussed, but also calm.

I like how people in here are screaming it is Sweden's to loose after the last game. Canada is pathetic this year. A bunch of very well trained grinders. In its turn Sweden got lucky versus USA.

On the other hand, Russia looks really strong this year. Very skilled forwards and underrated defense and goaltending. A team without glaring holes in the roster and a lot of people in here are writing them off for some reason.

Russia usually gets 'most flashy' in the semis and finals, probably that's why. Though the game against the Finns was very good :D.

Mitch Marner looks like a 15 year old. How the hell is this kid going to play in the NHL next year? lol

Causality is wrong. They weren't a better team because they had puck more. They had puck more because they were a better team.

Did Czechs seriously have trouble with Belarus?

On-topic:

CAN-FIN will be interesting. Finland's D is really suspect and Vehviläinen has been letting in some stinkers. How has Canada's defence been? Blackwood looked shaky against Sweden

i have a bad feeling about the slovaks....huska will stand on his head and win the game for the slovaks....
