not saying they are the same player, but patrick kane had 21//51//72 in playing all 82 games at 5'11" and 177 lbs. as an 18 yo rookie

just as a comparison.

That was back in 2008 when scoring was much higher. Rookies don't put up 70+ points anymore. I don't see Marner on a Mike Babcock team putting up more than 40 points in his rookie season.

Sweden v Slovakia = Sweden

Finland v Canada = Finland

Russia v Denmark = Russia

USA v Czech = USA
-------

Sweden v Finland = Sweden

Russia v USA - Russia

------

Russia v Sweden = Sweden

Don't think Canada has a hope in hell against Finland.

Just not coached well enough, and they lack players showing them the way.

But where will the Canadian tourists get tickets for the game?

Don't you know by now? Canadians always find a way.

Could put the game on Mars and we would find a way to get there.

Sweden will murder Slovakia
Russia will cruise to a win against Denmark
USA will win close against Czech Republic
Canada beats Finland

Hypothetically if everyone is healthy I'd still give the edge to Canada.

Any reason you feel otherwise?
Well, I think USA is a little stronger now. I'll say McDavid + Ekblad = Eichel, Larkin, and Hanifin.

Save the hypotheticals for Donny Cherry and all the other sore losers.

In Ufa all teams had their biggest stars and the US smoked that thing.

Really curious what a Russia - USA matchup would bring. Sweden *should* be able to get to the finals but once there anything can happen. Also Finland is a bit of a dark horse with their insane offense, but really they shouldn't be able to go past the semis. Would love a Sweden - Russia finals. The games between those nations are always great.

Good point, people get too caught up in what winning a short single elimination "means" and not just appreciating who is here and what not.

I'd agree with that, but it would be more than just McDavid and Ekblad.

McCann, Fabbri and Bennett would also be eligible.

Anyways, all fantasy talk anyways, It's all about who is here.

I voted for Finland but afterwards I realized they'll have by far the hardest road to gold, barring major upsets of course.
I'd like to see changes to Canada's 2nd pp unit. The 1st unit while not being great looks like it was once that awful 2nd unit takes the ice. I doubt they spend half their pp time in the offensive zone.

Nah, swedish team will take this one. Not easy but they will win it.

Grönborg better show the lockerrom a video of Tommy Salos goal right before the game and give a good speech about how wrong things can go if you dont put in an real effort. I expect them to make their worst game in the tourny here.

Why not just show the video of Slovakia knocking them off the podium last year? There are guys still on that team.

Doesn't make sense. If you voted Finland, shouldn't Canada have the hardest road to gold because winner of Finland-Canada has same opponents coming.
