Q sending message to Stalberg/Saad

I love how people just took "Stalberg questions his role" and made it "Stalberg runs into Qs office as he is taking his nap and pisses on him while screaming F-you and then throws pictures of himself banging Qs wife and daughters in his face."

But I would expect nothing less from this group.

There may be a few of the people you describe around here, but it seems like there are just as many who have made it "Stalberg knocks quietly on Q's office door, showers him with compliments, and then meekly asks why he isn't playing a wee bit more on the PP, before Q slaps him across the face and tells him to get the ******* out of his office and enjoy the off season".

The only thing we know is that Stalberg questioned his role on the PP. To me, at this point in the season, that is just not acceptable.

Stalberg has been mishandled by Q since day 1. Now he's a valuable asset and will just be gone come the summer.

Good luck finding his replacement anywhere in the organization.

Yup, we'll sure miss all that production he has in the playoffs.

I like Stalberg, and wouldn't mind re-signing him to a 2.5mil or so deal, but he is replaceable, like every other bottom 6 player.

I don't think anybody really knows why Stalberg is out, what happened between he and Q or what Q's reasoning is. Nobody ****ing knows! To speculate is pointless and to get extremely worked up over it makes you look like a fool because we don't know what's going on.

On the surface it definitely seems odd. You love having Stalberg's speed in the lineup and I didn't really think he was playing poorly. Just because guys aren't scoring does not mean they aren't playing well. That's foolish (actually stupid, moronic) logic.

Bingo.

You know what isn't speculation?

Stalberg >>>> Carcillo

Which player gives them a better chance to win tonight?

No need to speculate there.

You don't think that Q had anything to do with Stalberg becoming a valuable asset?

Actually, not really. While VS wasn't young, it often takes time for guys' hands to catch up with their feet.

The prospects we have in the pipeline will be hard pressed to fill his spot.

Much of the 3rd line game plan was chip it out to VS let him burn and then try to make a play.

I disagree. Stalberg burned people in transition, but that line played a textbook dump and chase to establish the cycle.

You can disagree all you like but when the Hawks gained possession in their, especially high in the zone, the play was ALWAYS to chip it to Viktor's side in the neutral zone and let him go get it.

After that it was dump and chase many times or VS streaking down the right wing waiting for help.

But their speed is what helps them chase those dump-ins and steal pucks away from defensemen.

Here's the obvious thing about the entire situation. If Bolland is playing between Bicks & Shaw, Q is going to make that the checking line. The 3rd line has seen some of the easiest competition all year but I think Q is going to roll the dice and try to change that entirely in order to free up Kane/Sharp & Toews/Hossa to not have to take on that burden. The top line of the Wild & Hawks basically neutralized each other last series and IMO Q doesn't want his top line talent wasted in that way, especially if the 3rd line isn't really rolling like they have been early in the season.

That's just my random speculation.

It was dump and chase and you'd let VS try and make something happen because he was the fastest forechecker.. It wasn't get the puck to Viktor and let him create.

Agreed he has a skillset that isn't replaceable.

Stalberg today compared to Stalberg when we acquired him is night and day. Sure, some of that may have been just maturation. But to pretend the coaching staff had nothing to do with it is a pretty big stretch.

It may be a stretch but what other forwards have you seen this coaching staff develop?

Teravainen replaces Vik?
McNeil?
Danault ?

What was supposed to happen:

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-McNeil-Kane
Shaw-Bolland-Bickell
Smith-Danault-UFA

They have Carcillo for another year, I think. What happened to Bollig, Frolik, and Kruger? They also have Pirri, Morin, Hayes.

I don't think McNeil will be in the NHL next year, let alone being 2c.

Are you serious? Bickell, Saad, Shaw, Kruger, and Frolik have all developed pretty well since they have been here. Not to mention our young stars seem to be coming along quite nicely.

Bickell? Most would actually call his development disappointing given the size and tools that he has.

Frolik? He's regressed from a 20 goal scorer to a 4th line PKer, great that he has found a role but that doesn't look like development to me.

Kruger? He has gotten stronger and finally plugged into a role that suits his skill set. He's marginally improved at the dot and still has no offensive game to speak of.

Saad? He came in ready, was overplayed by Q and may now be hitting the wall.

And yes, I am serious.

A player that has been developed is Nick Leddy.

Frolik will be a 20G scorer again the first year he leaves the Hawks. He doesn't fit on this team. Given the right system Frolik can play and will be a 20G guy again.

Unless a dozen of those are EN goals, I doubt it. He has lost his finish after being given many opportunities to play Top 6.

The Wings can have him for 3.2.

I like Vik, but until he starts contributing on the score sheet in these playoffs, he isn't worth that. IMO we have good enough players in the minors to play on the 3rd/4th line. That along with our young, improving forwards already on the roster makes him more expendable at that price. Personally I would rather have Bickell.

Certainly we have players who can PLAY on the 3-4 line, but they will be a definite downgrade.

Not all (or even many) teams have impact 3rd lines.
