Seems extremely odd that Monty is not using the last preseason game as a dress rehearsal. He does realize there were alot of major changes in the off season I would hope. I get last year it was basically a team that played with the same lines for like ever no care much about preseason. This isn’t true this year. If they start out of the get slow, lack chemistry and he has to fiddle with the lineup this would be evidence numero uno of a mistake

I know people don't want Brown on the roster, but I won't be shocked to see him make the final roster. Of the new guys they brought in this year via FA, Brown and Geekie are the only guys that got multi year deals. Brown can play C/RW is good in the dot and plays a heavy game. He's basically what they want for a 4th line/13th forward type of player.
Heavy? If by heavy you mean utterly skilless and unimpactful, I agree.

To be fair to him- I did read either on here or on twitter that Brown took a puck off the foot which has been hindering him. That may have some effect on his showings thus far. I would need to dig up the source tbh.

Im not opposed to them hanging onto the guy as a 13th forward. But you have Heinen and Boqvist as options for this role as well. The former not yet having a contract.

If opening night were in a couple of days, maybe he would.

But they have almost a week off to sort things out. They still have question marks in the lineup so Monty (and Sweeney) may not have a final lineup yet.

This....with opening Night not until the 11th they still have almost a week to evaluate and tweak the line- up

the baseline question is whether they truly start the reload ( they never use the word rebuild) or whether they stay with veterans.

my guess is some type of middle ground leaning towards vets ...Poitras stays for at least a nine game trial. And I won't be surprised if both Lohrei and Beecher start in Providence even though I think both deserve to be on the team Opening Night

bottom-line : in the Centennial year they will make whatever short term decisions are needed to position them to make the playoffs ( why should this year be any different)

Practice is just different than a game. You want to see the full team through at least one game, or you fing out the hard way what you thought in practice doesn’t translate against an opponent

I think the exception on that list might be Boqvist, scored 10+ goals a few seasons in a row in NHL with limited ice time, still young, and had high offensive #s prior in other leagues ...I think they are really hoping they found offensive diamond in the rough on the cheap but hasn't looked like it so far that's for sure.

I see a quicker Bjork. Not impressed. But it’s preseason and only a few games.

I wonder if the fact that the beginning of the season schedule has a lot of cupcakes played into it.

And he still sucks at everything.

My originals post that you comment on was that he plays a heavy game and is strong at faceoffs. Both of these are true. Your feelings on the rest of his game have nothing to do with what I posted.

We don't really know that, do we?

Has Zboril been effective as a LH RHD? If he has then why was he a routine scratch last season and why did Boston go out and add to their blueline at the TDL? Why bring in Shattenkirk when Zboril could be your 3RHD?

I suppose not. But having a 2nd line AHLer on your NHL roster is a very strong indication that your team sucks. Ask the Flyers or Canes about that.

Sorry, but this is a rebuilding team, there will be no cupcakes anymore. In fact, many nights we will be the cupcake team.

I don't disagree.

But unless you have seen Mitchell play the left side in the NHL, you don't know if he is any better.
