you forgot that Hank was always just a product of his huge pads and the system we played

Dammit, I knew I forgot one of em. Im a diehard fan but when it comes to preseason I just turn it on and it becomes background noise while I get work done on the computer. These games are nothing more than a chance for coaches to get a look at kids and play with combinations. It doesnt tell us a whole lot about the regular season whatsoever.

Haven't ever seen McD look as bad as tonight. Don't remember Hank looking this lost when he's not in Montreal. Not every deflection's unstoppable, especially for a top 3 goalie in the league.

Boyle just does what he has to in order to play defense. A role player that doesn't even try. Pyatt has been great for us in the preseason and tonight. Boyle has been absolute ****. Scores 2 goals in the scrimmage? great. So bad. How the **** did he ever score those goals?

to anyone freaking out over this:

3 core players have yet to play this preseason

most players have guaranteed spots. no incentive to play.

only players with incentive to play are 4th liners or rookies.

ridiculous puck luck. im fine with it. get all the bad bounces out of the way before the count for anything.

most important part of all of this. THIS GAME DOESNT MATTER AT ALL

You would hope lacing up the skates and going out there would be incentive enough to play the game. Sad state of affairs when it's not. This is a preseason game for the canucks too.

I feel bad for Lunqvist... AV will now do his thing where he doesn't pull a goalie on nights where they are just having an off-night, which Lunqvist definitely is. (Can't say Hank because we have one too.) AV did this to Lu many times last season, it's not good for a goalie's confidence at all IMO after the 4th or 5th goal, especially on only this many shots.

It's preseason. It's more about putting in the full 60 minutes to get your timing going than it is about winning games. Pulling Hank would defeat the purpose. The score doesn't matter.

Missed the first period, but...

Hank is having a rare bad game.

DZ on the right side is really starting to scare me.

Girardi does not look good.

Nash is looking craptastic. I hope AV is figuring out that he belongs on Step's wing.

I like guys who can make plays (in the context of their skillsets) - not guys who simply hold off the other team. No Pyatt, no Powe. No Boyle on the wing. PLEASE.

serious question. didnt boyle play defense in college? also wasnt he pretty good at it? if im right, why the **** did he switch?

Isn't saying much, the Canucks aren't impressing me at all really, except their PP looks pretty good.

Since we already have the Frolov award, I think it's way over due that we create the Scott Gomez Award, awarded to the player who shoots the puck into the goaltender's logo the most times over a single game

I said last game that Boyle looks in midseason form. He may even score more goals this season than he did last season if he keeps playing so well.

No, he was drafted as a forward. LA tried experimenting with him on D in the AHL and some NHL games but ultimately abandoned it. It did help make him the good defensive player he is today though.

I like this. Do we already have the "Tom Poti weak wrist shot from the blue line" award?

Kesler: "We've been playing well"

I would not call it playing well. Honestly I would be more encouraged from this game from a Rangers perspective than a Canucks one. No teams can sustain a 25% shooting percentage.

I agree about not being overly ecstatic from a Canucks perspective, but you have to break down for me how a 5-0 loss is more encouraging from a rangers perspective. It makes abiut as much sense as a soup sandwich

Most of these goals aren't on Hank. Personally I'm more concerned about our offense, or lack of it.

at 0-0 we had a lot of good chance. How can a team play with gusto when we're going down 1-0 slowly to 5-0.

I'm not worried. I just want this team to just play a game with a full ****ing team and get ready for the regular season.
