Andersson earned that goal with a great period. He's looking like a legitimately solid NHLer.

They need Chytil to center that line for zone exits/entries. He also looks lost on the wing to my eyes.
He spends the entre camp playing center, they don't give a game with his linemates from practice, and now they put him on the wing.
Definitely not the ideal scenario for his confidence.

I think Quinn needs to realize that in the NHL these days you can't take the first couple of weeks/month to get into the season and get up to speed. You need your team set and ready to hit the ground running. Of course things might need to be changed around, but you can't spend all of training camp dinking around to see how scrubs look for a callup and finalize the roster and lines at the last minute and expect things to go smoothly.

Lucky for him the team probably isn't going anywhere this season

Exactly right.. He's had a full year with these kids.
Keep in mind, and I understand you have to deal with whatever hand you're dealt, but he ran these kids into the ground when they weren't ready to handle an 82 game schedule in the big leagues last year.
I blame JG for the same.
Not even gonna get into the garbage system he's playing.
I don't expect DQ will last very long now that JD is finally here..

Lias was the best forward out there. He picked up the goal by being Johnny On The Spot, which has always kind of been his thing. He made some great passes, and some excellent defensive plays. A couple times he just straight up took the puck away from a Flyer. Extremely pleased with his game so far.

The rest of the lines look disjointed.

So far chytl not noticeable

Quiet kakko too

1-0 after 1 is fortunate

Gotta be honest, I'm getting a little bit nervous about Chytl. The kind of nervousness I felt about Lias last year heading into this year which has now been debunked as Lias obviously put the work in and has come into this season on fire with a point to prove.

Well I haven't seen that from Chytl yet and I'm starting to think it might not be the worst thing in the world for him to work on his game in Hartford to begin the season. I know he's really young and I am still very confident that his skill set will emerge but so far...let's be honest, he really hasn't looked any better this year thus far than last year.

The fact that Lias has looked completely different and looks a ton better than last year makes it look worse for Chytl. A stint in Hartford to get his confidence going and his game in gear I do believe is what the doctor ordered.

What’s Jacques Martin up to these days? The guy oversaw the development of Hossa, Redden, Chara, Fisher, Spezza and Havlat. Gotta figure he’s good with youngsters. Just don’t know if his style is suited for today’s NHL.
