He got out of shape. The only hockey he played was in those charity events, and that's not NHL-level hockey at all.

One charity event in Atlantic City to be exact.

I'm also pretty sure he was also the only skater to not register a point in a game that finished like 9-8.

As a Flames fan observing your team, you'll learn quickly three things about Vigneault:

1) He loves players that the fans hate.

2) He is nearly incapable of utilizing good players to their full potential.

3) He's not very good at changing up the game plan / adapting coachign tactics as games go on.

Saw it with the Canucks, seeing it now. Sorry, but in my opinion it's even more obvious now that he's with another team and I'm seeing the same patterns.

He's not a TERRIBLE coach but he doesn't deserve a good team and the win/loss record he's accrued.

1. Torts
2. Torts
3. Torts

Or every coach according to every fan.

The Rangers transition does look better. Even though mechanically the Rangers look rusty. The Wings are more explosive. The D are more free forming on the breakouts. The Rangers are more unpredictable moving up ice.

The problem is that the Rangers haven't figured out a really good offensive set up yet. They are deferring too much down low(Torts system), Also, they don't seem to be taking enough advantage of the open ice in the O zone. If the puck carrier doesn't seem to like a play, he just defaults by throwing the puck down low(even when he has room). Its killing the offense....

Yes this is preseason and there is still time to iron out kinks but I doubt you'll see enough difference to bring the Rangers a Cup. I don't even have anything against the Rangers, it's just sad.

This is not exactly the golden age of coaching leaguewide, imo.

To be fair, they have a very complete line up compared to ours.

NHL players: J.Moore, Nash, Stralman, Staal, Lundqvist, Del Zotto
Players out of depth: Asham, Kreider, Powe, Boyle, Mashinter, Richards, Pyatt,
Yet to be NHL players: Kristo, Lindberg, Hrivik, Fasth,
Not NHL calibre players: Falk, Bickel.

How the mighty have fallen...
