I like Malte Stromwall game in this 1st period as well - he has been active, but he is 23 and I am curious if he will ever make it to NHL, thoughts?

Watching the AHLers is tough. Whole lot of effort, barely any results

Bereglazov seems to flash potential but not really comfortable out there...seems like mental errors are hurting him and he's playing like he's feeling his way through the game.

Vesey has been eh this game so far

Pretty choppy except for the Chytiljuice line.

Pionk did not have as good of a start.

Bear-Glaze looks like a good skater... but definitely pinned in a lot with Kampfer.

Good fight by the new Tony D.

Puempel and Tambo look useless out there.

Desharnais looks shifty.

All in all not bad. But not great.

Pavs was the best Ranger that period.

Anyone else think IÂ’m crazy but Chytil looks like he can become an elite player or am I the only one?

Really depends on how his top end skills come together IMO. Can he consistently score goals when he gets/creates chances? Can he rack up the assists with accurate passing? The tools seem to be there with the hands, skating, and body size, but he'll have to be able to find the back of the net a lot to be elite

The question with Bereglazov is if he really wants to play in the NHL long term, and accept an assignment to the AHL to get acclimated to the smaller rink.

Thought Tambo actually looked pretty good at times...when he can be aggressive and try to make things happen he stands out a bit, but also can be another guy who just can't find the puck

Rough start but they're looking much better. Pionk and Chytil continuing to impress. Graves and DeAngelo both look good. Hell, even Kampfer has been solid.

Bereglazov's footwork is surprisingly good. Moves the puck pretty well too. Definitely looks like he's not quite adjusted to the smaller rink though. The boards sneak up on him.

Gotta think Hayes/Vesey stick together, and barring a big collapse, I think Chytil will start with the team.

Pavelec already looks like he's much more confident in net.

I can't believe people are wondering if TDA should make the team.

If he died, I would dig him up, spray down the maggots, drag his lifeless corpse onto the ice, and prop it up at the blueline with a clothesline and some gum, before I put Marc Staal on the ice.

Watching a game like this, you can just see that the offensive depth isn't there in the organization, considering its like a split squad game. This team is maybe like 12-15 players deep in NHL or someday NHL caliber forwards, but really no more than that. There are probably just as many defensemen who fit into that category.

Gotta add some forwards to the fold like we did defensemen over the next year.

He has shown some nice plays in his 2 games but way too early for me to say anything definitive at this point. Also depends on your definition of elite. Mine is really high.

DeAngelo is 100% making this team. Those who say he is competing are out to lunch. The locker room really likes him as well - and his skills, both in game and at practice, have shown through.

Buch looks stronger out there - I like him testing his body in board battles during preseason - use this time to test your limits.

The visuals I got while reading this were fun.

Because of AV, but we got another defensive coach this year so I am hopeful. It will probably be a coach staff decision - it`s not only AV to decide even though he is the main coach. @Machinehead.

I think this is the wrong conversation. Its a waste of time. You are right, but thats just not the situation for this team.

We know right now Staal and Holden have spots on the team. Does anyone seriously believe they are fighting for roster spots? Maybe playing time, doubt its for roster spots.

So we are probably talking about one spot open on defense with four good candidates, gonna be tough for anyone to make the team on defense.

Its disappointing that 3 of these guys instead of 1 aren't gonna make the team, but thats not the situation, so we gotta adjust the conversation here.

I guarantee he is making the team. There's just some with the European/Russian agenda, those that are fixated on some kids insults that are incredibly commonplace and meaningless, and those that like to see themselves are the professional armchair GM and "giving everyone a fair shake" or some shtick like that.
