No that would be Werenski, who is a one-dimensional offensive dman apparently. I guess HF thinks it's easier to teach offense than defense when it comes to young players.

Totally agree and I wasn't trying to hint that Boro and DeMelo are better so I apologize if it came off that way. Chabot is in a really tough spot as an offensive defensive since he has very little help up front. Although they don't tell the whole story, I was still a little surprised by his advanced stats. Despite playing on a similarly bad team last season his advanced numbers were much better, like night and day from this season so far. His Corsi, Corsi Rel, Corsi/60 Rel, GF/60 to GA/60 differential were all the best among Sens defenseman while this season he's one of the worst across the board. Maybe he feels like now that he's in his third season he needs to carry the team a little more and it's affecting his game a little. When I've seen him play which has only been 3-4 times this season, he's looked fine so maybe it's just a small sample but I was still a little surprised to see the numbers when I pulled them.
I had no intentions cherry picking numbers to make one player stand out and push another down and I didn't even provide an opinion in my post, I was just putting the numbers out for reference at the quarter pole.

Chabot is right there with Provorov for 1st despite his struggles. McAvoy has been a tire fire but I still put him above Werenski.

Werenski is clearly the best and even then before this season it wasn't AINEC the best. But Chabot hasn't fell off hard at all, I absolutely take him over Provorov, and he's only marginally worse than McAvoy.

YEah like this season only Werenski has been better, and even in Werenski's case, McAvoy has been better in the last few seasons than Werenski, so...

Please, McAvoy should be light years ahead of Werenski when taken into consideration the teams and record they've had. Bruins have been blessed with with players like Chara, Bergeron, Krejci etc. playoff contenders every year. Big market team VS small market team....and both are even? rotflmao

Please don't make comments like that based on almost nothing. You don't know these people and you're spreading bullshit on a public forum.
Like Werenski has always been considered a great guy. Really nice guy, volunteers a lot. One bullshit redditor came up with a theory when PLD wanted out of Columbus that PLD was fleeing from a bunch of crazy MAGA heads, and they roped Werenski into it. There's never been anything to back that up and we've since learned other reasons why PLD has moved around so much. We don't know Werenski's politics and even if we did we wouldn't have grounds to call him a "bad human being", which is the wrong way to talk about people you know little about.
Provorov for his part took a stance that he wasn't going to wear the rainbow colors and I disagree with his choice. But that's up to him. Again you don't call someone "worst human being" based on so little. He's actually pretty well liked in the community!
Chabot was really bad the last few years. 2021-2024 he was not a top pair caliber D-man. This year he has looked terrific and better than McAvoy, who has slipped a bit.
Werenski has been consistently #1D caliber but nothing special until this year. Then from the first skate in camp he looked elite, what he did in the offseason did wonders for him.
Provorov only looked like a #1D for that one season next to Niskanen. He was pushed to pretend he was that player for a long time and struggled as a result in Philly. Now in Columbus he is a solid middle of the lineup player, nothing special in both ends. And everyone seems pretty content with him. Not what I would have expected - I was a big fan of his going back to that draft year. But he doesn't have elite speed like the other three D in this discussion and doesn't have high end vision for producing offense.
