If Lily ends up stepping up early in the season for the Marlies and is a key top 4 defender, does sending him to the WJC against lesser competition make sense? I get that he'll probably want another shot at it, but I don't know if there's any developmental benefits asides from maybe the opportunity to be a leader on his team.

I thin they'd throw him that bone to stick it to the SEL for jerking him around last year and give him a chance to shine.

I love the idea of a very Swedish Leafs team.

P. Lindholm
Grundstrom
Johnsson
Engvall
Nylander
Sandin
Liljegren

All potential though.

There is no doubt that sending Liljegren to the upcoming WJC is the right move. He has the chance to play against elite prospects his age and size, increase his icetime and role, and be a leader as well. Playing other 18 and 19 year olds will likely get his confidence sky high, which means he’ll hit the ground running in the AHL next January. Last but lot least, the player wants this as well, as he’s mentioned in interviews at season’s end.

I could understand some apprehension if the tournament was 6 time zones away and on international sized ice, but it’s in North America on NHL-sized ice. Overall it’s a great chance for Liljegren to measure up to his peers in an expanded role.

I think it would be great for him to go. I'm of the believe that its beneficial for guys to dominate a level before they move on. He played in it before and was solid, but he wasn't the guy. If he goes, he can be their #1 D, likely will wear a letter, and odds are has a fantastic performance. Its not like its for the whole season either, just a few weeks.

Just about to work on #19 of the prospect analysis.
One thing I should mention is the newly drafted players wont be on this list. Not going to include them because this is focused on development after their draft, so they dont really fit in the analysis.

Could be an opportunity to gain a bunch of confidence. Playing in his "normal" peer group could give him the opportunity to contextualize how far he's come and where he is at.

I don't know how much that's worth though.

Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (SDA) its pretty tough to type out al the time. Pronman is a reasonable scouting guy a bit hit and miss

Thanks.

I hope he goes just so I can see how he compares to his peers

Development camp invitee Roman Pucek is a guy that could realistically get drafted in 2019.

He went undrafted last week. Pucek tore up the U18 league in the Czech Republic and debuted in the 2nd league.

Might be smart to sign him to an ELC. Apparently, he's looked good in camp this week.

Roman Půček

We can't since he is from Europe, and he would not be the first guy to do that.

His best chance is coming over to the CHL and putting up a solid effort. Unless he has some meteoric rise in Europe (i.e. he gets to the top league and puts up good numbers). Tearing up the U18 Czech league means nothing, just like doing it in Finland or Sweden means next to nothing. If you are not at least in the U20 leagues, if not also a consideration for the pro leagues, by the time you are 18 in Europe (outside of Russia and in some cases Sweden, but in both cases you are likely taken in the later rounds), you are a non-factor for that draft. If he was really good and wanted to stay at home, he could have played in the Czech 2 league all year and possibly could have got drafted if he played as well as people expected.

But maybe he can be a late bloomer and do well next year. We will see.

God damn you goat! Take some notes people, these crouse/goat defensive minded “safe” picks need to be avoided in the first! So disappointed with goat.

You should really look at the 2013 draft results. There are a few guys who've played 100+ games with only one standout, Andre Burakovsky, after The Goat pick

It was a very weak draft, especially after the 20th pick

Im pissed at him more than the pick if that makes sense. Its his fault for not progressing.
