Robertson looks like he has a long way to go before he is capable for a top 6 spot on the Leafs. Obviously still very young though and he should improve in certain areas. He was decent last game but this one was a poor showing, he must have had a shot or two but I can’t remember any.

Good finish by Abramov, showing some of his promise.

I'm not sure how many noticed in the aftermath, with Duszak and Perron? of the Blues chirping... first guy over to Duszak in all of that was Douglas.... Douglas isn't going to let anyone push around one of the smaller guys on the team... we could use more guys like that, especially with Douglas's size.

I don't get the SDA hype to be honest.
He looked a lot better in the AHL last year TBH. But he looks lost at this camp IMO.

He has tried forcing passes that aren't there, and kind of loses track of where he needs to be in the defensive side of the puck.

he has skill, I just don't think he has enough to offset his deficiencies. certainly not at this point in his development at least

He's a weird case. He looked good in a pre season game so you saw he had/has potential. Just a case of does he need to play with NHL quality players to get the best out of him since his biggest asset is his playmaking or was it just a one time thing and what you see in Junior is what he really is. He really does need to work on his strength though because most sites including the Marlies and Leafs page has him listed as 160 pounds still and idk if that's his actual weight now or not.

I think he's likely going to end up in the KHL, as a middle tier guy. He's more of an assist guy, but I don't think he's even as good as Bracco. But, he'll be a useful Marlies player for the next couple of years, before he heads back home. At his peak, maybe near PPG Marlies. That being said, he's pretty slick at setting people up, and both Gogolev and Robertson had good goal scoring totals beside him. 63 assists in his last OHL season, and 4 assists in 6 AHL games.

I'm not sure I'd say its a long way to go, but I'd agree I don't think he is ready for the NHL on a consistent basis.

His skill is undoubtingly NHL quality, his Vision is as well. But he needs to figure out the timing of the pro game and get stronger on the perimeter.

Who knows, maybe he was a victim of poor linemates today. I thought SDA was awful personally. Kressler as well is just meh. It's hard for a guy like Robertson to consistently drive play from the wing. Especially as the trigger man. I mean he was all alone in behind the Blues D as they were in the middle of a change and the outlet pass went 10 feet wide for an icing. That kind of instinct gets rewarded at higher levels when you play with better players. Maybe he will show that elusiveness in main camp and really make it hard for us to keep him off the squad. Despite not hitting the scoresheet, he still managed to create chances, seemingly on his own.

But if I am a betting man, I'd say he spends the majority of his time in the A this year. Which is totally fine by me.

Abramov looks good, I know some people thought he had a bad WJC but, I remember watching him and he looked fantastic but wasn't getting ice (the coach)

Don't remind me, it screwed my WJC pool

Some praise by Moore. Indications he might get a decent role to start.

He needs to be brought along, he's one of the few decent center prospects we have in the pool

I still see winger when I watch him but even I would persevere with him at center looking at our organization

Hoglander is probably a more realistic comparison. Robertson needs to get to the 180-185lb range for his size to compliment his play style. Hoglander's grinding/forechecking game is effective because he has ridiculous balance and tree trunk legs.

Curious to see what he weighs in at this camp. Probably needs another summer, at least, to get to that mark. He should still get NHL games in the meantime.

Honestly I don't know who I'd tell Nick to watch. Obviously Marty is a HHOF level talent, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the player I'd get him to watch. I think honestly the player I'd get him to watch the most would be Brendan Gallagher. They have an eerily similar skating stride, but Brendan has found a way to be effective below the dots, where Nick really struggles. Nick's offensive upside is higher IMO, and to be truthful I don't think he really needs to work all that much on that aspect of his game. I'd just show him film of BG working on the walls, and how he protects the puck. They are identical Heights and builds almost. Or at least will be when Nick fills out. I don't see any reason why Nick can't battle the way Brendan does. Nick losing battles has never been for a lack of effort, It's always been about not utilizing his low centre of gravity to his advantage. Something Brendan does very well IMO. If he can figure that out, Nick will be an amazing NHL player. His skill level is off the charts
Gallagher is good too but I think he could become more, not saying hof good but a teir above Gallagher.

I'd say Brayden Point would be a good small offensive player to follow. I don't think Robertson has the same kind of pest mentality of a Gallagher. Point is a good example as a small guy who has the courage to play a tenacious game skill game in high traffic areas.

The more we progress, the less so anyone is jumping off the page as an ELC candidate.

I thought Paré looked like a capable depth C at the AHL level (likely back and forth with Growlers), so I wouldn't mind bumping his ECHL deal with Utah to a 2-way AHL deal with us.

Budgell got a chance with Gogolev and Abramov today. Wasn't noticeable for me, but perhaps he gets the option of an AHL deal to forego an overage Junior season since he is from Newfoundland and accomplished at the QMJHL level.

Other than size there's nothing in Robertssons game that's close to Point. They are in different leagues

Right now he's close to being more like Tyler Ennis. Before you say omg no way, Tyler is a fringe NHLer take a look at his stats

Tyler Ennis was a prolific goal scorer in WHL and even in AHL along with good showing in WJC

Ennis has had multiple 20 goals season in nhl

Ennis is also super fiesty, I don't think Nik is. Ennis got into multiple fights in NHL with bigger opponents

He's not fiesty or nasty enough to be in Gallagher territory or skilled enough to be Pointe and Marchant

You have literally no statistical basis for saying this. None. Impressively consistent theme to your posts, however.
