The fix!

Trade Gagner for picks...
Trade
Eberle and 2015 1st
for
Coburn, Couturier, Phi 2015 1st
(yes I know it is a risk, but it may be the only way to convince Phi to give up Couturier... plus we will become a better team, so hopefully no top tier pick)

Offer a try out in camp to a guy like Quincey or Hainsey to provide competition in camp to Klefbom, Fedun, maybe resign Fraser for that as well....

Sign Iginla... I know Mac-T could convince him... maybe even offer him 2 yrs at 3.5per or 4 per...

draft Ritchie...

lines
Hall Rnh Iginla
Perron Couturier Yak
Lander Gordon Ritchie (grooming him to be the top line rw)
Gazdic Hendricks Pitlick
Arco, Jonensu

Coburn Schultz
Marincin Petry
Ference (Kelfbom, Fedun... or competition vets)

Much improved and headed to the playoffs!

The D is still very suspect. If we actually want to improve, only one of Schultz, Marincin, Klefbom or Fedun should be in the starting line-up.

And I don't see Iginla coming here unless he's already gotten his cup.

better shot at signing Iginla then Markov... I also said sign some vets to provide competition... the FA market is slim and I certainly don't want to overpay a guy like Orpik...There is no #1 dman available... if Coburn can provide a steady influence for Schultz and 1 of Marincin and kelfbom provide top 4 mins with Petry then the d is vastly improved...

If you're trying to get Eberle out of Edmonton, Jenner + doesn't get you into the conversation. Sorry, the value isn't there.

Eberle has already put up a 70+ point season and he's 24.

ooh. are you sure? a big, tough two-way C for a small, albeit good and proven, dangler. I might do that. would rather it be Yak, tho. Jenner isn't better than Eberle yet, but has a much hire ceiling. He could very well be the next Kesler. We should have taken him instead Musil in the first place, but, alas, Jenner's dad isn't an Edmonton scout, so.... you know how that goes with this organization.

Mistake number 20 of 30 that lead to this gongshow.

This team will do nothing without a big C in our division, I really don't think grigerenko will be that guy

Not a big fan sorry however adding Myers would be awesome, not sure buffalo does it at that price though however I could see it possibly happening around Eberle. I think we have to take Draisatl in that place to help out our C depth.

I was under the impression it was the 'big 2', who's the 3rd? Bennett or Draisaitl?

Good, we get a 6'5" 220lb dman. It's a piece of the puzzle. Yak may never figure out the game at the NHL level. How many times does he look lost? Virtually every game!

Andrew Ference is outscoring Gudbranson this year.

I agree with Yak looking lost but you gotta aim higher than that.

Plus I'm incredibly wary of taking any players from the Florida Panthers.

Pair Yakupov with Barkov and just see what happens...

What about this, lets say the Sabres are picking 1 and the Oilers are picking 3

Yakupov + EDM 1st (3rd overall)

for

Stewart + BUF 1st (1st overall)

Oilers take Ekblad, Buffalo takes Bennett/Reinhart.

1. Trade the 2014 1st to Montreal for Subban (provided he hasn't signed yet)

2. Move Eberle for a good #2 defenceman.

3. Trade Gagner for a late 1st round pick.

4. Go after Grabovski, Bolland or Ott to fill the 2nd line C spot.

5. Sign Jagr, Iginla or Vrbata

6. Go hard after Boyle; if he doesn't sign, pick up a 2nd pairing defenceman like Zidlicky, Mitchell, Tallinder

7. Sign Moss

Line-up:
Hall - RNH - Yakupov
Perron - Ott - Jagr
Hendricks - Gordon - Moss
Gazdic - Lander - Pitlick

Subban - #2 D(from Eberle
UFA D - Petry
Marincin - Ference

Time to blow this core the F up we will never win in our division as is.

Eberle + '15 1st for Myers + Stewart (Solves our two biggest problems in one trade Size + D, I'd be willing to sweeten this deal as well to make sure it happens)

Justin Schultz + Pick for Simmonds (Not sure if Philly does this, but Schultz has the upside and they are looking for D)

Yakupov+Gagner for Hanzal+Prospect/Pick (Probably an over pay but gives us the perfect center to compete in our division, gives us two great shutdown C's in Gordon and Hanzal, and the biggest benefit imo taking the defensive load off Nuge, and allowing him to develop with some softer minutes for the next year or two while he gets stronger, instead of forcing him to play against Kopitar, Getzlaf, Thornton on the nightly, Hanzal flanked by Hall and Perron could do some serious damage and I would trust them in any situation.)

Orpik for a 3rd (Pens fans on the rumors board will take anything for this guy)

Pick Ekblad/Bennett/Reinhart depending on finish position (I predict 2nd last finish with us picking Ekblad, Reinhart going 1st to Buff)

Sign David Moss for the third line

Hall - Hanzal - Perron
Stewart - Nuge - Simmonds
Moss - Gordon - Lander
Gazdic - Hendricks - Pitlick/UFA/Waivers/Smyth

Ference - Myers
Marincin - Petry
Orpik - Ekblad
Nurse/Klefbom

Scrivens

I would put a good amount of money on a HUGE improvment out of that team and personally I don't think my deals are to over the top (tell me if I'm wrong), we are moving some very nice pieces for stuff that allows us to compete with the big dogs. All our defense can break up a cycle and the break out should be a bit better with a year matured Marincin, Myers and Ekblad giving outlet passes, plus we add a VERY needed bomb from the point on our PP in both Myers and Ekblad.

:handclap::yo: And potentially sign a Greene/Tallinder/Mitchell Or trade more for boychuk and this is glorious. We can only hope.

Rebuilding - Draft Lottery - Off Season 2014

Please read the article and give your thoughts

http://www.edmontonjournal.com/spor...tickets+fade+losing+season/9615377/story.html

How this relates to Draft lottery. Probably it will be the last time for many years to see the Oilers suck lottery balls. It is not financially possible continue rebuilding another 4 seasons not even 2 seasons. Katz must keep selling tickets otherwise bigger new arena is half empty. So let's enjoy of excitement of of lottery. I hope we will draft top 3 pick as muchc as I hope this a last time to pick in the top10 for a decade. We still need that big center to replace Gagner.

We will see interesting time in draft 2014 and during the off season. The Oilers must take player personnel risks in order to neutralize financial risks which will become reality if team keeps losing

After Dreger's "comments" I expect Yakupov to go to the Leafs at the draft, along with Joensuu, for Gardiner/Franson, rights to Bolland and a pick.

I have no interest in picking up Stewart. This team's "give a ****" level is already too low. We don't need to be adding to that problem. And if we do add to it, it'd better be for someone like Byfuglien that fills a huge need instead of a #2RW that doesn't even use the size that people want him for.
