I mean Rodrigues looking really not ready isn't ideal. Even if it was just an off night for him or what not.

Its so hard to know with goaltending.

I remember seeing Brossoit and thinking he couldn’t track a puck. He was able to carve out a pretty good career.

Even with Skinner was some training camps where he didn’t look NHL ready.

Sometimes things eventually click for goalies. But Rodrigues starting to get to that age where he needs to show it. Not a great camp for him.

For sure, I don't disagree, it's just a really tough look against alot of NHL competition for Rodrigue. I'm not saying quit on him, but I would look for a veteran to be back if Pickard's still out for a bit.

Welp let’s see what happens Friday.

Off to watch Survivor but I think Rodrigue gets voted off the island tonight in Oiler land.

I think Friday will be a good tell of where we are at.

The Nucks, good or bad, bring energy to their games, even in pre-season. Last pre-season we half assed it in Vancouver with pretty comparable lineups if I recall, and we got smoked. Then we proceeded to get smoked in the first regular season game when we decided to bring approximately the same degree of effort as the pre-season game.

Until this group actually shows up and brings it for once without effectively being forced into it after embarrassing themselves, I will always assume that the start will be uneven. I have no idea why it is, but they always, always need to be kicked in the balls before they play the right way.

Unfortunately this team likes to ease its way back into the grind instead of going in hard, that week off before the cup final was a huge disadvantage for us because of that.

They ease their way into everything. 3/4 series in the playoffs we eased into, regardless of the amount of time off prior.

Sad. I would like to see him do well, but at 24 if he isn’t showing signs it might be too late. Who knows

Then again… Brodeurs son is 28 or something and he played well two days ago so who knows

Maybe with all this experience they have now things will be different, hopefully they learned all the hard lessons last year and correct this issue.

Nah last preseason game will tell us zero. Sorry but preseason games are overrated for veterans. Only means something if you're fighting for a job. PRESEASON tells
us nothing about where we're at. 20 games into regular season will give us a clue. Just don't dig ourself a massive hole at the start like last year and we will be fine. Can't believe anyone actually gives a crap how veterans play in pre-season lol lol

don't know why you quoted me, but agree with your post. Regulars are playing with less intensity and just going through game motions to get thier bodies going.

That’s simply not true. He got absolutely hung out to dry in the game in Calgary.
I was at the game, the person I went with had the exact same impression. He was truly not very good in that game. Getting beat clean on shots where you can see it coming is not good enough.

Yeah no, he stood on his head and made a ton of 5 bell saves.

I was also at the game and even the flames fans were saying how good he was and how the team hung him out. The coaches post game said so as well.

He looked exactly the same as he did against Seattle, his eyes aren't tracking the puck which causes him to be behind the play. He isn't tracking the puck well, or else he would be ahead of plays not behind them. He made 5 bell saves?? I think you are mistaking what a 5 bell save is.

I love it when randoms on the internet go to a game and then think they know way more than the team’s coaching staff. Can tell you’ve never played or coached a goalie in your life either by how you talk about goaltending too.

I played in the AJHL and was listed by the Spokane Chiefs, I trained goalies for GDI and WorldPro, what are your qualifications for goalie evaluations? Are you Rodrique's dad to defend him from somebody saying he isn't tracking the puck well? Rodrigue himself would tell you he doesn't have confidence right now at the NHL level. Rodrigue is a smaller goalie, if he wants to make the NHL he has to be as good as Saros or he wont even get an opportunity. He isnt overly technical or fast in the crease and he is getting beaten clean from shots from the circles where he has a clear line of sight of the puck.

Your last sentence proves you didn’t even watch the Flames game never mind go to it. If you’re going to lie about that it’s safe to saying you’re lying about everything.

I went, my best friend growing up was a linesmen working the game. Ill change my avatar to a picture of me in my AJHL jersey, lets see you post one of you in a league you made. I have played against Josh Morrisey, Matthew Dumba, the Philp brothers. Oilers 2nd round pick Mitchell Moroz was on my team. Im sure you know so much more than I do about goaltending.

I’m sure you know so much more than the Oilers do that you’d directly contradict everything the coaches said about Oli’s play in the Calgary game 🤣

You’re amazing. An absolute superstar. I’m so proud of you. Maybe you should talk to Bowman and he can make you a scout and you can teach the Oilers coaching staff about evaluating players because you had a friend growing up that was a linesman lol.

Every year I have my NHL breakfast to start the year .
package of bacon
6 sausages

package of hashbrowns and a side of pancakes
toast
Then sit down and watch Slap Shot and other hockey movies. Been doing this for the last 15 years
