I’ll say it again, if Laf, Kakko, Lisa Andersson and Krapsoft all became star players right out of the gate nobody’s saying the Rangers rushed the rebuild.
Whomever people want to blame, it's pretty clear that the team had no intention of being bad for long. If you are really serious about a rebuild, you don't go out and sign Panarin a year after you send out a letter to fans that says you're rebuilding.

When we signed Panarin, Andersson had only played 49 games in the NHL. Kakko, Miller, Kravtsov and Fox had yet to play any games in the NHL. And we were still a year away from winning the lottery to draft Laf.

This is just another example of the impatience that has always been at the root of this organization's problems.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

They were never serious about a rebuild & that letter was designed to incentivize other teams to come knocking for anything that wasn't nailed down.

Then Gorton "probably" (I say that because we don't know, but we know) botched the situations with McD, Miller & Zucc.

We had high hopes because Foxy landed in our laps & we SOMEHOW won 1st overall... but things weren't ever as rosy as they seemed.

Tbh I don't blame Dolan either. I'm stealing @GoAwayPanarin's analysis here because he's right.

Dolan signed off on the letter. Not even a year and half later, he's spening $137,000,000 to add Artemi Panarin and Jacob Trouba to a damn-near last place team. They then proceeded to miss the playoffs each of the next two seasons with a massive payroll.

Gorton and JD didn't get fired for no reason and they sure didn't get fired over Tom Wilson's dumb ass.

Dolan never blocked a rebuild. The Knicks traded Kristaps Porzingis and then went 38-110 over two seasons with his full blessing.
You can blame Dolan for not firing Sather, but the reality is he went out, hired the game's most legendary GM, and gave him infinite runway and an unlimited budget. He might be a clown of a basketball owner, but he's actually an amazing hockey owner.

Cuylle and Othmann both earned the opportunity to start the season with the Rangers.

Lafreniere and Goodrow did nothing to make the team outside of having recognizable names. There's two spots right there.

I'm hoping after all that went down for Laf in the last few days, it lights a fire under him and tonight we can see some of his best.

I think Cuyle has a fair chance to stay since we are pretty soft.

I do not expect Lav to work miracles. He will not turn Goody in to Gretzky but I like watching him. He comes off as a real coach.

I 100% think it was Dolan when it came to Panarin. Couldn't resist a star player saying he wanted to come to NY and he pushed for that signing.

I actually don't mind that they traded McD when they did. He'd just have had a few good seasons with the Rangers while they struggled through and then have had even less trade value. The overall trade was definitely underwhelming as hell though and then Quinn goes and ruins Howden (to whatever extent) by refusing to just send the guy to Hartford when it was clear he would have benefitted, and it was a big swing and a miss on Hajek. Miller also was 100% retribution for the way he quit on the team after they announced they were going to sell.

But whatever, the rebuild ultimately really wasn't done that bad in the end and Dolan fired the guys who kept saying "slow down we're gonna keep getting pieces in place"

I mean, it's preseason. It's less about "what about this important game" and more about "what's the overall picture here as we head towards season opening"

that said I'd like to see some lines

Yeah he's been around a long time and my vision of him is always from when he was younger but yup he got old. I got old. Some of ya'll probably got old.
f*** all ya'll who aren't old
When I joined this site, I would have been the youngest player on the current roster with years to spare.

Now, only Quick, Wheeler, Bonino, and Kreider are older than me.
