maybe they should hire you for coach/gm?
This is the helicopter in a tree fallacy.

If I see a helicopter in a tree, I know somebody f***ed up. It doesn't mean I can fly a helicopter.

The professionals in charge of the team failed to notice that the team is violently slow and looks really bad against playoff-level competition. Fans noticed it years ago. The organization should have done something to address it back then, and now they're kind of stuck with the team they have.

Not adding speed to an already slow and aging roster, splashing the market in 2019 a year after announcing a rebuild for players we didn't need, and coming out of said rebuild with one of the older teams in the league are obvious missteps. They're helicopters in trees.

Hsicher and Chytil were born nine months apart. One is still a baby on his roster and the other feels like a dad on his roster.

How are we so old?
That’s what I kept thinking last night and why I made a comment about the devils rebuild looking different, it’s cause they actually did one it seems

mostly, as much as I agree with a lot you post in general, it feels like you're in a loop posting the same stuff over and over lately
you can just...not post sometimes

Outside of Hamilton who is their clear 1D, all of their core are Devils products (Hischier, Hughes, Mercer, Bratt, the other Hughes). Once they knew what they had, they did a nice job filling holes with Meier, Palat, Toffoli, etc.

Outside of Kreider, our top players are made up entirely of acquisitions. And yes, Adam Fox is an acquisition. He played precisely zero games in Hartford. The very next game he played after the trade was for the New York Rangers, as was every game after that. And the Kreider draft was eons ago.

What rebuild?

That's the biggest issue I have right now with this organization. They either lied with "the letter" or simply just didn't care enough to keep their word.

They abandoned the rebuild the instant they signed Panarin, which was dang near right away.

Every one of their 1st round picks they haven't allowed to develop as top players like literally every other organization does. The Devils drafted players and then developed them as top guys and now they're top guys.

Rangers drafted players and developed them as 3rd line plugs and now they're 3rd line plugs.

They half assed it just like the players half ass it on the ice

They abandoned it even before that.

The rebuild started when they traded Stepan and they're not bullshitting me otherwise. They signed Shattenkirk like four days later because the shiny toy was available.

Gorton literally wanted to rebuild and contend at the same time and now we have a team that looks like that.

I can't really blame Drury. He inherited a mess that he has to try and win with because now they're all expensive and pretty much stuck here.

You know when Islanders fans would proclaim the Islanders were going to win the Cup within a couple years and we all laughed at them.

Now Devils fans proclaim the Devils will win the Cup within the next couple years, as soon as this year... I frown and say "yep" because it's facts. They'll most likely win the Cup very soon. If not multiple Cups.

Rangers COULD HAVE been like that. But they decided they'd try to take short cuts and we are now seeing a badly flawed team that has f***ing 37 year old Wheeler who can't skate slotted to be a big contributor instead of their 1 and 2 overall picks who they developed as scrubs so that they can throw bags of cash at every free agent they can get their hands on and draft picks at the deadline. Just like the Rangers have done for decades.

It's true. Sad and true.

Tbh I don't blame Dolan either. I'm stealing @GoAwayPanarin's analysis here because he's right.

Dolan signed off on the letter. Not even a year and half later, he's spening $137,000,000 to add Artemi Panarin and Jacob Trouba to a damn-near last place team. They then proceeded to miss the playoffs each of the next two seasons with a massive payroll.

Gorton and JD didn't get fired for no reason and they sure didn't get fired over Tom Wilson's dumb ass.

Dolan never blocked a rebuild. The Knicks traded Kristaps Porzingis and then went 38-110 over two seasons with his full blessing.

Wow......I guess being undefeated in pre-season really carries a lot of weight. They have talent, but of course the hyperbole is strong here. Now we are so flawed because Kakkp and your grandson are "scrubs".

I wonder how much influence feeding the MSG E side of the enterprise has on the Rangers roster decisions. MSG E generates like 4x the revenue of MSG S. If the Rangers have no star power what happens to the ratings?

Dolan has to sign off on the free agent contracts as well though, does he not?

I'm sure he was totally on board with signing Panarin considering the Islanders were not only in on him, but also in the midst of planning to build a new arena.

If hes invested enough in the decision making to abruptly fire the GM and President (whether that was the right move or not doesnt matter) then he's just as responsible for the overall direction of the club.

He isnt absolved of blame. He also hired and held onto Glen Sather all of these years who's won nothing here and who he continues to rely on as a key decision maker/consultant. He's in the HOF as a builder, but its not for what hes done in NY.

I’ll say it again, if Laf, Kakko, Lisa Andersson and Krapsoft all became star players right out of the gate nobody’s saying the Rangers rushed the rebuild.
