Did Cutter really have 12 SOG? Damn. Leo scored, Mac scored. Probably win this game if Dostal was in net the entire game. Wish I could have watched this game, really annoyed about that. Tomorrow’s game will be available on ESPN+ for out of market.

The ducks all of a sudden seem to have a pretty deep roster at Forward and Defenseman. Not saying it’s a good roster but there’s definite depth this year that’s been an issue in the past

The one gripe I have is we’re really short on gritty defensive forwards who hound pucks

It feels like the team is a lot more insured in the event of injuries this year. There are a lot more capable NHL players to fill spots.

The PK last night had pretty much all the Top 6 other than Zegras taking shifts. I don’t know how that’s gonna go with the number of penalties we take.

Also, Carlsson was at 12.5% on faceoffs against an AHL team.

Dude needs to improve on this if he is going to kill penalties but just any situation is critical to be at least 50% at FO’s. Whether it’s an offensive, defensive or even a neutral zone FO.

Again so pissed could not watch this game. But it seems Gauthier and Leo are looking really good . I’m not worried about Z, I’m more worried about him moving on from this team. The rumors and crap are really starting to annoy me.

He's under contract for two more seasons. He's not going to be moving on any time soon.

Sounds to me like Cronin is gonna keep Leo and Cutter together. And yeah I have no qualms about Leo as a center. He plays the position well but he needs a faceoff coach.

As much as I hate listening to coach/player interviews after a game, I decided to grit my teeth and power through this one. There's a little bit there, but the funniest part to me is that I don't even think Cronin knew Clang's name. He talked about Dostal but then couldn't seem to name his backup. And he talked about the goalie coaches as if they're the ones dictating the playing time for these guys outside of his purview.

Helleson is right back to the Gulls

Even if he improves a bit, to where he's a bottom pairing guy, it probably won't happen here. Too many other young options coming up.

If it's true Fowler gets moved this year, it makes the most sense to acquire a good veteran guy of that type. A high end 3rd liner who can PK would help this team tremendously, as opposed to a higher talent guy who's a 3rd liner because he's not quite good enough to stick in a top 6 role.

Hopefully, Verbeek can swallow his pride and implement the Rico Rotation if Carlsson continues to be invisible at the faceoff dot. The Rico Rotation is using a winger who's adept at taking faceoffs or better at taking faceoffs than his center and using that guy to take faceoffs. This was done often with Rico as Zegras was his centerman.

Currently, we have a Cutter-Carlsson-Killorn first line.

Last year was Carlsson's first full season playing center. The previous two seasons, Carlsson was playing wing (RW) in the SHL - men's hockey top tier for Sweden.

Although Cutter does have a large sample at the dot, it was in the NCAA. The NCAA do have players in their early to mid-20s in the league. Tack on that he has improved between two seasons as well as was taking pointers on taking faceoffs from Getzy earlier this summer, maybe the org would want to experiment with that.

Personally I think it's better to just focus on getting the projected 1C of the future better at the skillset. Make it a focus for him in practice and let him get his reps in games.

Leo is a centre, i mean there are a lot of things to debate but that isn't a topic i would've expected to see.
If anything I’d like to see us experiment with McTavish at wing at some point. I feel like taking some of the defensive pressure away from him could really unlock his offense.

But it’s not a huge deal. It’s fine the way they’re doing things now.

SOMEONE is going to have to play wing and it isn’t going to be Leo lol
