I just hope that this revitalizes Couts. Obviously he has the character to lead the team, but damn we really need him to be a stable top-6 pivot.

Fedotov is big, nothing terrible, nothing outstanding, but I'll give him time.
The slobbering over Richard is amusing, he turns 28 in December, he's not a prospect.
His breakout AHL season came at 26. Repeated at 27.
He's had cameos with Montreal and Boston.
He's fast, but being undersized isn't what had kept him out of the NHL, at 5'10 180 or so he's the same size as TK. Willing forechecker, but small in that role, lacks instincts and skill for top 9.
AHL+ player who might be a late bloomer, but I'll bet on Avon, just as fast, 6'0 200 who lost a season to COVID and is still 21.
Abols was meh.
Lycksell looked really good, making a push for the !2th/13th slot. Playing a stronger game that allows him to use his skills.
Couts, Risto and Drysdale all look healthy.
Bonk is not going to jump out at you, but he looked a lot more confident than last game.

Who they going to waive/trade to make room for Ollie? Or is it likely he gets Sents down.

If he gets sent down then he will go through waivers, and I'm guessing will likely get claimed if that happens.

I don't think Lycksell is going anywhere if he keeps this up.
The lineups the next three games, after the next group of cuts, will tell you who is vulnerable.
If Cates is the 3C and Laughton the 4LW, as in practice, then I suspect Briere might quietly shop Laughton, though given the lack of depth right now, he also might wait until closer to the TDL to see who emerges in LHV as a replacement in case of injury.
This will also depend on how they evaluate Richard as an injury call-up.
I think Eklind and Abols have played their way out of that conversation.
So it's more how much Desnoyers, Avon, Rizzo and Tuomaala progress between now and say February.

It’s the best time to try to sneak someone down. Saying that, he should be on the team and that’s that.
If no Jett they keep 14/7/2.
Poehling, Laughton, Cates…at least one should not be here. Honestly that should have been Laughton. Could have had a 2nd and 3rd minimal for him.

The guy must have some crazy core strength or lower body strength. I’ve noticed a few plays where a player his size should be pushed off the puck by larger defenders but he protects the puck well and puts his body between the puck and defense. If that makes any sense I might be rambling.

So you’re telling me not everyone is completely obsessed with only 19 year olds and are in fact interested in finding little advantages wherever they present themselves? And this is a bad thing?
But what really makes me laugh here is the “slobbering” amounting to “Maybe he can be a 4th liner and also maybe not.” Meanwhile, here’s a lineup chock full of every draft pick for whom we lack a death certificate pencilled into ‘26-27. Hell, you called Desnoyers an untouchable part of the core last year. I don’t even want to think about the things that were said about the Twarynski preseason run.

He's an AHL+ player and probably the first call-up until if/when a kid passes him.
Sure, there's a slim chance he's the next Gourde, he did step his game up the last two years in the AHL.
But if I suggested that, you know what your reaction would be.

But if I suggested that, you know what your reaction would be.
I do not think there’s any more chance he’s the next Gourde than I am.
I just strongly prefer a month or two of seeing if he can be a late 2010s Cogliano-style 4th liner than many of the other options on the table. I’m also fine never trying it again if it doesn’t work.

Can you imagine the devasting effect it would have in the room if legend Laughton was moved. We all know he will not be.

I mean, I did not realise actually how strong Couts fight record is. He never fights but when he does he wins.
Sweezey, Dumba, Bailey, Lemieux, Landeskog, Backes, Quincey, Turris and Dillon are his 9 NHL fights...
he has probably lost 1 (vs Dillon)

What options?
Based on practice, Laughton - Poehling - Hathaway is the 4th line.
Richard is not as good as any of them.
Sure he's better than Deslauriers, but there's that sneaky contract thing.
So far, off what I've seen, I'd keep Lycksell over Richard.
And he's better than anyone else at LHV right now as an injury call-up.

Nothing sneaky about it. Right thing to do is waive ND. Let him bring is role model prowess to LHV.
I don't think even the Flyers know where they will have Cates at the moment. He hasn't played any one spot more than any other.
